even in gpu performance ?
shant wroteeven in gpu performance ?

whoa, didn't turn out the way i expected
Sami27 wroteJust got the HTC One X. It has a much better design than the S3 (My personal opinion), and it goes for 585$ now. I don't know why people are so hyped up over the S3 while a better alternative has been available for over a month.
true, htc is way better than samsung. and the one u got htc one x is much better than the samsung galaxy s3.
End users Antutu benchmarks for HTC One X gave 11000 to 12000 score while SGS3 gave 10000...
Comparing the design and materials of sgs3 with HOX is like comparing a ''big wall'' chinese car with an Aston Martin ;)

It seems you missed haidcar's post.

http://www.theandroidsoul.com/meizu-mx-beats-galaxy-s3-in-antutu-benchmark/

Is this it?

In the following scores, the winner is:
1) RAM: S3
2) CPU integer: S3
3) CPU float-point: S3 by a BIG margin
4) 2D graphics: S3
5) 3D graphics: S3
6) Database IO: One X
7) SD card write: HTC One X
8) SD card read: S3

DESPITE the HTC One X having a higher frequency for an identical architecture (4 x Cortex A9).
One interesting thing, the S2 score almost doubled when on ICS 4.0.3 ; should that mean Xperia S will win the 2nd place when ICS comes out ?
yes ICS got hardware acceleration, gingerbread doesn't.

things you can expect once you get ICS are much more fluid and smooth System UI (ie launcher) animation transitions and effects.
Apps would take advantages of Hardware acceleration so same UI enhancements goes for apps as well as speed improvements in running the apps.
Are push notifications faster as well ? Some reviews say yes other say not. I noticed that my Android lags like 1 minute with emails and couple of seconds with chat messages.

Both Windows Phone and Android using same wifi connection and syncing same G-mail / exchange account, WP displays notifications almost immediatly ( so does iOS ) but my Android takes like 30 secs up to 1 minute to show a notifcation ( push feature activated of course )

By reading your post and looking at your picture, I noticed that you don't have an idea about benchmarks ? only about the phone design.

FOR THE LAST TIME, S3 is fucking better than the One X, except in the design. Done.

Actually if i were you i wouldn't have bought the Xperia S. You should have picked a Samsung or HTC phone. If you went back then with HTC One X, you would have gotten ICS already and Sense UI is great. I bought my S2 just because i knew back then that ICS is going to be released soon, so i sold my iPhone 4. ICS is way better in all aspects.

You would have different feelings if you were on ICS now. Anyway did you check if there's a complete Custom rom for your phone ?

Also, if you had HTC One X you would get better support on XDA and more custom roms available.

i don't think that this android android problem, but could be a software bug slowing the sync speed. i think they will either release separate bug fix or include it in the ICS update.

it's like comparing the aston martin dbs to the db9
whats 10000 and 11000
it means that they're the same

Well to be honest I went to the store, asked to try both devices, Onex for 590$ and XperiaS for 540$ ( price isn't a problem ); I ended up getting the xPeria simply because of the stunning screen and trust me it's much better than the OneX ;

I've been a member since 2003 on xda-dev and I know that HTC got better support there, Sony is relatively new; however there are some good devs also who havent moved to HTC or Samsung in the Sony section ( yet ).

Crossed fingers.

PS: Xperia S will get ICS but probably not before June.

Yes it's nothing since it's the S3 that has the 10% extra...when the HTC One X has the 10% extra, everybody raves like a fanboy.

The GPU in the S3 is already 30%+ faster than the HTC One X's.
What's 30%?
yasamoka wroteWhat's 30%?
Nothing if 95% of the applications aren't coded to get advantage of multi-core processing.

Still too early for Quad Core processors.
I never get the whole hype around benchmarks for phones. Honestly, it's a good indicator, but fanboys seem overly eager to talk about hardware performance as soon as new phones are announced.

Benchmarks don't prove much. They only prove how well a certain component acts when it's stressed by the app. Errr how many apps do stress your CPU or GPU as much as the benchmarks do?

Reminds me of the ads for kitchen knives that would cut through a shoe. (obligatory Seinfeld reference). I mean, who needs a knife THAT sharp for their kitchens. A couple of pro chefs dealing with a very particular kind of cuisine?

People here seem to dismiss 'design' on account that it's not as geek-hardcore as 'performance'. Ultimately performance, just like the rest, is yet another marketing gimmick. Design is important, at least as much as performance. You know what else is far more important to me? How resistant the phone is. How strong its connectivity is. How well does the audio work. If my finger will leave stains on the screen. If it behaves well under the rain. It may not seem hardcore, but those things matter far more than one particular benchmark result.

I own a SGS2 and so far I'm happy. (Well, I'm not happy, it's a crappy phone, but I don't think there's anything better on the market right now; that's a whole other topic). But why should I upgrade to the S3? Simply for performance? S2 can run every app I came across so far. I might upgrade to ICS, but there's very little features that convinced me. Why change something that works?
What you said is absolutely true, however, screen resolution and display quality is on the top priority of my list and this is the only reason I picked the Xperia S.

Regarding ICS, you change something that works if it will work better ie. migrating your computer from Windows XP to Windows7.
Kareem wroteWhat you said is absolutely true, however, screen resolution and display quality is on the top priority of my list and this is the only reason I picked the Xperia S.
Oh yeah. Screen resolution is also an important factor, just like, and I cannot believe I forgot this, battery life.

For what it's worth: Larger screens will need higher processing power. (Hold your horses, still nothing comparable to what those benchmarks test). Battery life is inversely proportionate to processor cycle count.

Maxing everything out is never the best solution. Trust the manufacturers to find balance between different aspects of the phone. If they ship a less powerful component, they know what they're doing.
rahmu wrotePeople here seem to dismiss 'design' on account that it's not as geek-hardcore as 'performance'. Ultimately performance, just like the rest, is yet another marketing gimmick. Design is important, at least as much as performance.
I don't see any single reason putting the design and performance on the same level. I would never ever buy a phone just because it looks cool compared to another phone with a better performance. What will the design do ? Anything special ? Attract someone ? In both cases, the design is useless, you're going to use the phone not look at it.
rahmu wroteI own a SGS2 and so far I'm happy. (Well, I'm not happy, it's a crappy phone, but I don't think there's anything better on the market right now; that's a whole other topic).
Crappy ? Can you please explain in details why it's a crappy phone ? And what type of phone will make you happy ? the features you like to see in a phone ? maybe a flying phone for example.
rahmu wroteI might upgrade to ICS, but there's very little features that convinced me. Why change something that works?
Why update you're current Linux OS that you are using ? You're a Linux user, why not stay on one of the first Linux distros released like "Interim". It was working fine i guess.

Also seriously "very little features" convinced you ? It seems you're missing some features. The smoothness of ICS and the new multitasking are more than enough to make you update. Other than the great UI of ICS (AOSP ofcorse not Touchwiz), you said that you put the design and performance on the same level. The S2 comes with Touchwiz and in general it's fucking ugly UI. So in your case, the S2 is not an option.
