andrew55 wrote@Raficoo is the download speed stable? Or does it go down during peak hours?
He said it's stable throughout the day, and by that he meant the whole day, he didn't mention any slowdowns at all.
vengeance666 wroteThen why didn't the rest of us with 1mbps accounts get upgraded to 2mbps speed and got instead got only the quota upgrade ?
It turns out he had 2mbit/s before the upgrade, and I found out that any user who had 2mbit/s before the upgrade will keep it during the upgrade.

and as I said, he got his new package(unlimited) activated early becuz he has a "wasta". I'm gonna call Ogero tomorrow and see what has become of the speed upgrade for 1mbit/s users.
They gave the choice to upgrade via internet web interface some years ago from 512k to 2mbs,why this time they are giving this fake excuse of ''line test'' if it's not to take 10000LL more per user for paper work?
They test every single line before launching adsl for a telephone line + they know every telephone central if capable of 4 or 6 or 100mbs
@vegetaleb, if I'm not mistaken Ogero has always required users to do the switch (upgrade or downgrade) at the CO, that's been my experience with them since 2007. There are some forms that they fill out, and they giver the subscriber a copy. Ogero has always charged for the service, they might have reduced the fee recently.

For me when I switched from 1mbps to 2mbps a few months ago they accepted the application, took the fee, and didn't mention they would have to test the line or anything. And I had my upgraded speed a few days later.
just a few days? how? unless you did the application on the end of the month and they upgraded it on the first of the month.because in jaride rasmiye they upgrade the new plan on a new month
That's right Ahmad. They once advised me (when I called 1515), to switch my account during the last few days of the month. And that's what I've been doing since, and I get the upgrade on the 1st of the next month.
Last time I switched was Dec 2013 (1mbps to 2mbps)
Quick question, I registered with Ogero on a new line at the 1st of the month. All that I was told was "we'll give you a call" in a few weeks. Can anyone tell me what's the next procedure and how long would it take for them to install my DSL? For instance, when I registered with Terranet on another line, I had the option to come and pick up the router to fasten things up and install it myself, is such a thing possible with Ogero too?

It will take about 1 month (if u dont knw anyone from inside) , but i dont think you can pick up the router and install it by urself ... good luck :)
It took 14 days in my case without talking to anyone or any "wasta".
Well Ogero gave me the middle finger straight up today. They told my dad that our line can't handle more than 1mbit/s(despite Line Attenuation vs Speed charts saying otherwise), and that we'll get 2mbit/s when they change the wire to Abra, and that could be in the next life for all I know.

It's funny really, I got these parameters
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:	24,5 / 44,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:	31,5 / 20,0
And I've seen alot of people here who got 2mbit/s, yet for some reason being 1.7KMs away I can't get 2mbit/s

really don't know what I can do now, guess I'll try sending an e-mail to that talab@mpt.gov.lb and see if I can get positive reply, but I'm not too optimistic

Also to make matters worse, I applied to the unlimited package(which will be activated for me on August 1st)and I'm going to pay $50/month while getting 1mbit/s until they "change the wire".

You can still change your house. Move closer to the CO. That's probably much easier than changing the wire.

Yeap, this is the same reply I got from then, except they made up a bad excuse/lie that I live more then 4kms away [which is wrong btw]. PS: My stats are similar to yours. Plus I had better speeds from Terranet earlier.

@Kassem, sadly what you said is actually true.
Kassem wroteYou can still change your house. Move closer to the CO. That's probably much easier than changing the wire.
Come to think of it, I remember my dad asking Ogero the same question 2 years ago and they also said the area's line doesn't handle more than 1mbit/s, and yet here we are, even after new speeds were announced and they haven't lifted a finger towards improving the lines. Think I'd rather try to apply for a private ISP than change houses lol(If I was renting mine it would be more possible considering I own the house I live in now)

So you still have 1mbit/s now as well? my line stats are really weird as even being 1.7KMs the attenuation shouldn't be that high, but I guess it's probably been forever since the lines were last changed. It's a shame they can't implement FTTN here. I know a person in Sweden who paid 2000€ to set up a fiber optic link to his house, but he said it was "soooo worth it".. at least there they gave him the option to do that.

Anyways, guess I gotta keep holding on and see what their e-mail reply will be atleast.
@Raficoo, if your local CO has only Ogero DSP, the situation might also apply to private ISPs.
Do any of your neighbors with private ISPs have more than 1mbps?

The issue might be with the installed DSLAMs, or the backbone link connecting the CO to the rest of the country's network. What modulations (g.dmt, adsl2, adsl2+) are available for you to connect on?
Seeing signs of congestion and slowdowns at the moment. (Hamra CO)
On 2mbps, single download hovering around 50K/s. If I use a download manager and split download to 10 streams, speed goes up to usual 220K/s.
Also pings are about 20ms higher than usual.
Tested multiple servers. Also YouTube at 360p is now pausing to buffer mid videos.

Anyone else experiencing similar slowdowns?

Everything is fine here (Chiyah CO)
Thanx ILIA_93 for checking ... might be something at local CO, or maybe upgrades being done mid day.

I've never needed to use a download manager on Ogero before, even during free nights, so it's a bit odd.
mohammadk97 wroteDoes anyone know when the update starts? :/
If you mean quota other than the default 40GB plan then I think 1st August. If you mean speed and your speed is still 1mbit/s you better ask Ogero as there's a chance your line may not support more than 1mbit/s(which is what happened with me)

The speed. Ah ok, has it started for the ones who has a supported line?
@mohammadk97

I'm here to ask the same question. Is there anyone here whose internet has actually sped up or knows someone who has?

Because I've gotten two contradicting pieces of information from Ogero and I want to confirm which one is correct. I went down to the Mazraa branch in Beirut which is the one I am nearest to (I live in Mar Elias, Beirut) and I was told there that my line does not support speeds exceeding 1mbps as well! I was really surprised because my location does not strike me as the kind of place that is far and might be under-equipped.

I decided then to call 1515 and make a second inquiry, and there I was told no one's speeds have changed and they will by the end of the month! Then I decided to tell them what I was told in Mazraa and they said it is not correct, that only applies to places far from Beirut... So one side is either giving lies or misinformation.. Unbelievable. At first I thought the contradictions happened between Ogero and Ministry of Telecom only, but it seems even within Ogero there are discrepancies.
