I'm here to ask the same question. Is there anyone here whose internet has actually sped up or knows someone who has?

Because I've gotten two contradicting pieces of information from Ogero and I want to confirm which one is correct. I went down to the Mazraa branch in Beirut which is the one I am nearest to (I live in Mar Elias, Beirut) and I was told there that my line does not support speeds exceeding 1mbps as well! I was really surprised because my location does not strike me as the kind of place that is far and might be under-equipped.

I decided then to call 1515 and make a second inquiry, and there I was told no one's speeds have changed and they will by the end of the month! Then I decided to tell them what I was told in Mazraa and they said it is not correct, that only applies to places far from Beirut... So one side is either giving lies or misinformation.. Unbelievable. At first I thought the contradictions happened between Ogero and Ministry of Telecom only, but it seems even within Ogero there are discrepancies.

I guess they say that to everyone ...It's like a form of "shut up I don't want to work to give you the right answer " .
Is anyone in beirut achrafieh loosing sync today? This is the third time now, i stay out of sync for 5-10 min.

I am in Mazraa and i am loosing sync frequently today!
I've actually experienced some decrease in the ping, the ping was reaching 200 ms! but now it varies from 80 to 150 max. I live in saida near ogero's branch here.
Anyone have a 4 Mbps connection (or faster) with Ogero? I'd like to know how stable the speed is through out the day and if there are any disconnections.. thanks
RoyNm wroteIf anyone is still wondering, I checked today and it seems my speed has increased to 2mbps.
me too, i live in ras beirut. and they change it on the website when checking data usage.
Me too.
But my speed is still the same.
It says 2mbps only in the data usage page.
It is still 1024kbps/256kbps on my side , Kab-Elias Bekaa.
Has anyone tested if ogeros' 2mbits unlimited plan has a FUP? I am still uncertain if i should switch to this plan if ogero refuse to give me the 4 or the 6-8mbits.
But i want to make sure ping will still be decent and no fair usage policy will apply.

+1
I want to know that too!
Earthmaster wroteHas anyone tested if ogeros' 2mbits unlimited plan has a FUP?
No one can "test" it yet, since no one got the plan. All of Ogero's subscribers are on the 40GB plan currently, and the new plans will be applied on the beginning of the next month. However, there's someone of the forum who got a friend that got the unlimited plan activated through a "wasta", and as far as it's going for him, he didn't notice any FUP.

For me personally, I doubt that they will do such thing, or they should have printed a notice next to the unlimited plan stating that it has FUP. I already subscribed for this plan, 50GB on 4Mbps is ridiculous without free night traffic, and 60GB on 6-8Mbps is out of question! Just download two games a month, or some movies, and you'll find yourself using the network meter more than the browser itself. If you're not a torrent person, or you don't get your softwares from the internet, and you'd rather go buy them at a DVD store, then you should get a higher speed than 2Mbps. But if you're a heavy downloader, then it is clear that the new plans are a rip off without the free nights.

google.com resolves to a local IP, so not an idicator.
But everything is normal here.

Are you a new subscriber? Basic star services are free on land lines. It could be a one time fee.
I only get charged the 1000LL stamp fee.

Edit:
from the page Tarek linked:
There is no installation fee for the packages listed above, except for the 2000L.L stamp.
