Hi, im looking for a gaming laptop capable on running new games (portal 2 , bf3 , cod...) on med settings . From what i have seen in magazines , most laptops...

The only problem with hp is overheating , although you can check some reviews on hp laptops and if you found any hp laptop that doesn't have "heating-reviews" let me know so i can get it

Who said Acer is good ?
Acer has been known for having problems that are very hard to fix, like the web cam suddenly not working, or one of the speakers stopping.
I wouldn't recommend Acer but since it's good for a budget I didn't say anything.
I haven't has bad experience with HP because I haven't dared buying one. But most people who have HP laptops complain a lot about them and don't know how to get rid of them.

I am also searching for a laptop and my budget is same as yours 700-800$ more than that is a waste in my view Unless if it's a superb laptop i can go with 1000$ maximum .

Anyways i digged deeper and i found some pros and cons for the acer aspire (techomania's offer ) and here's what i found so far :

Pros :
Blisteringly fast processor
Speedy graphics card
Plenty of RAM

Cons:
Screen's viewing angles are tight
Chassis looks plasticky

There is something i am not sure about i read it in a review : acer aspire 5750g may heat up while playing high end graphics game like fallout 3, assassin creed,etc cpu temperature hits up to 90c

I have 5750G with an i5 It gets hot too. Super hot. 10 minutes of Fallout 3 and both cores in my i5 2410 CPU hit 90 degrees.

you can see acer's bad rank and how bad is hp while asus & Toshiba wins . i am considering toshiba after i read and viewed a lot of reviews & studies.

i found this toshiba in some lebanese store but i think it's overpriced !

@Sup3r Thanks for the trouble for searching , it seems your really like investigating before buying. Yeah it seems acer has trouble but not as much as hp. As for the toshiba offer for that price you can get better specs and this graphic card is lower than the gt540m.I will check the facebook link and if you find anything else post it .Thanks

Lenovo , Gigabyte or MSI.
When getting a dedicated graphics card stay away from Tohsiba because they are known for having quickly corrupted graphics cards.

I have an acer travelmate i got for 400 $ ..i play skyrim , oblivion , fallout 3 on moderate ..the key is just how to manage your resources and maintain them . no heating at all .

it is dual core , 4 GB , intel HD 1 GB dedicated ... i removed aero and all intensive graphic needs ..the gaming is not so bad but im sure you can do better.
( i changed the HDD to SSD )

I paid 75 $ for a DDR3 2 gb ram stick here in congo

Acers don't overheat at all, in fact they run very cool. The problem they have is that components get broken mysteriously (For example the web cam suddenly stops working or the jack gets broken).
I only recommend buying the Acer if you are on an extremely small budget.
