a friend of mine on mtc subscribed to 3g on his blackberry 8520 though i know it doesnt support 3g, will it get edge ? , to make matters worse there is no 3g where he lives , so im asking will it still get edge instead of 3g, if yes how , hopefully he didnt subscribe for nothing.
Alfa 3G vs MTC 3G
Yes he should be able to use EDGE with no problems.Dope14 wrotea friend of mine on mtc subscribed to 3g on his blackberry 8520 though i know it doesnt support 3g, will it get edge ? , to make matters worse there is no 3g where he lives , so im asking will it still get edge instead of 3g, if yes how , hopefully he didnt subscribe for nothing.

And i mean 3g not bis over 3gsurfer12 wroteYes he should be able to use EDGE with no problems.Dope14 wrotea friend of mine on mtc subscribed to 3g on his blackberry 8520 though i know it doesnt support 3g, will it get edge ? , to make matters worse there is no 3g where he lives , so im asking will it still get edge instead of 3g, if yes how , hopefully he didnt subscribe for nothing.
no bbm wont work over 3g , bis ( blackberry internet service ) is needed , but i believe you can just browse and use whatsapp and such apps .
what happened is that yesterday he had to renew his bis , so instead of renewing he just subscribed to 3g (100mb) to use whatsapp at around 11 pm, he had internet till 12:49 and thats it , doesnt it need settings ?, i mean if it does, he wouldnt be able to use whatsapp till 12:49 am instead of 12:00 am . i hope this made sense
If he hasn't used a lot of Mb from that plan he can call alfa and ask for a refund. I was offered one last month while trying to change 3g plans.
, he is with mtc , no chance making it work?babum wroteIf he hasn't used a lot of Mb from that plan he can call alfa and ask for a refund. I was offered one last month while trying to change 3g plans.
Any blackberry can run on the 3G networks if the device supports it, if it doesnt, it should work with EDGE perfectly. Note that the browser on the new BB OS wont work without importing Service Books from a blackberry running the OLD OSes. You should also add the apn settings to your bb device, I forgot how to do so, but you should be able to find it on this forum as I had the same problem before.
I just turned on my old BB Torch, and put in it my Sim Card which has an active 3G subscription with MTC, it worked perfectly, whatsapp and browsing in opera. I didnt even have to change settings because I had already imported service books a long time ago when I subscribed to GPRS, its weird I know but I can confirm it works 100%. The only thing is I forgot what the settings were, but it truely does work.

the phone is a blackberry curve 8520 , he had bis first , now thought of just using whatsapp thinking he will get edge even if the area is still not covered yet with 3g , he did manage now to change the apn to mtc as the website recomends , but still nothing .

Yea well that's the whole point , otherwise all BB users worldwide would stop BBM just get a 3G connection and get on Watsapp wouldn't they ?
The mobile internet i have now on my Blackberry, is in fact 3G but through BIS.
BIS is some sort of contract made by RIM with Alfa/MTC
That's my theory at least

did he restart his phone during that time? maybe mtc unregistered him from the servers at that time

can anyone please explain to me whats the difference between 3G+ and 3.9G ?
in detail? ive never heard f 3G+ where did that came from?
in detail? ive never heard f 3G+ where did that came from?
it is just a very weird marketing strategy. 3g+ is 3.5G. yet 3.9G I have no idea where it came from. they are offering the very same speeds/quota/everything, so just disregard the names
