4peterkh4 wroteI have these questions:
1 - Did you get any $ with the new number to test voice/video call? I didn't
2 - How much does the video call minute cost?
It has zero credit but when I got it they told me that I can recharge it. And as for the video calls its free and it wont affect your credit if you recharged it.
i just turned my mobile into what resembles a router with the "Joiku spot" application. (thanks to @AymanFarhat)
the maximum speed i'm getting is 0.9 mb/s could it be because nokia is slow ? or no relation ?
Hello, My friend tufi2 has encouraged me to register in this website, although I've been using it for awhile, i decided today to register. It's a nice community for people who love technology. Now, I went today with my friend to jounieh and got the alfa 3g testcard, I've tested between jounieh and city mall (nahr l mot) it was a nice experience to test it. the internet kept fluctuating between 3G And Edge. other than that it was great. i did the speedtest maximum was 1764kbps sorry for not posting the forum code of it but i lost it. one more thing is that alfa states that there is no 3g coverage in Batroun, but i was surprised to know that there is actually, but when i try to go deeper into the city where my work is located the 3g sign was gone and i got edge now i'm home i live in koura so definitely no 3G coverage, though i will try it back again tomorrow in 3G covered cities and ill come up with more speed tests pictures from mobilespeedtest.net
Oh, and i own a Blackberry Curve 3G(9300), Non service based apps were running smoothly and fast. Video calling wouldn't work on my phone :(. From this experience i can say i would switch to other smartphones such as Iphone , HTC or Samsung than i would have better experience with what 3G could offer.
Sorry for this long post hehe hope i helped.

Edit, when you press *11# you will get 0$ valid until 31 October, 2011

anyone else getting low speeds like this ?
If "2G" (edge) is good quality, it is already enough for VOIP.
Hello everyone,
Anybody has an idea where to buy the 3g usb dongle from? Alfa people seem to be pretty clueless.
thx

This is Ayman 3g Sim card, i'm testing it in Beirut near Sodeco Square. It seems quite stable and it's showing HSPA most times.
i've been using 3g for 2days.. i used it both on my nokia and on my windows phone..
and i used the configuration given from Alfa (which is the same for what i used to used for gprs before, but 4 different 3g operators from alfa re-gave it to me) .

and i tried it in Achrafiyeh, Furn el Shebbak and Hamra

and for some reason the best speed i've been getting most of the time is average edge speed although the 3g and 3g+ logos are appearing 99.9% of the time..

any ideas ?

And how is it?
I turned on my data roaming when I was in Lebanon and it connected to MTC. Speeds were way better in Achrafieh compared to my buddy's Alfa. That speed test cost me around 50$ in roaming charges.
Hello, I'm a 3G pilot user, i have mtc. Feel free to add me to the list. I also would like to try that video calling option. As exiztenz mentioned video call didn't work between us.
Btw, i have a nokia 5800 that i connected to my linux desktop using the Broadband connection wizard in ubuntu. I got about 2Mbps. I think the maximum bandwidth the device can support is 3.5Mbps.
Hey guys, just got my 3G sim from Alfa, my speedtest results are 3.7Mbps Down and 697Kbps Up with a ping of 200ms.
Watching MTV through their Android App, Youtube HQ went smoothly!

However, my android device (HTC Desire HD) doesn't support Video call, or at least i cannot initiate one.

What are you guys testing beside that?
3G sim from alfa? whats this? do we have to change our sim card? also, where can i get the 3G settings?
They give you a dedicated SIM Card (New phone number) to test 3G, they are unsure if users will have to switch their SIM Cards when this plan becomes public.

3G Settings are the same as GPRS ones.

Dear 3G MTC Touch iPhone 4 Pilot Users,

Anyone tried to see if Facetime works? I desperately want it to work :(

Thanks.
As far as i know, facetime doesnt work on 3G connection unless u jailbreak your iphone...
What does jailbreaking have to do with Facetime? If MTC blocks it, then nothing can make it work.
MrClass wroteWhat does jailbreaking have to do with Facetime? If MTC blocks it, then nothing can make it work.
By Default facetime is disabled for our dear country, this is why you need to jailbreak and install something like Facetime Enabler (forgot the correct name)
I see. But didn't they work on 3G to enable Video calls? Why is Facetime different? I just don't get it.
