Even wise have unlimited 12-7 night, ogero is the only isp that the unlimited night is not confirmed to be applicated
the unlimited plans suck, I already have a 1mb unlimited from sodetel for 28.5$

edit: I was really hoping the new plans would bring a 2mb unlimited for ~30$
No more free night traffic ? Wow... So what did the upgrade do again ? We get accounted for the free usage we used at night when we had old plans into a new form of a "bigger" daytime quota , so the only thing we got was more speed and cheaper extra traffic but technically less flexibility with our connection since most of the people would use up more than 40gb being used to download at night .. What a ripoff ! Finally when we thought for once a respectful minister came in charge , everything gets screwed again .. **** the 2mbit speed I want my damn old 1mbit with unlimited night traffic back !
My down line attenuation has always been fixed on 24.5 db. today it became 23.5 out of no where. what does that mean?

Chill man, there's a still a small chance unlimited night traffic is still in, just 2 days and we'll know for sure if this tragedy is real or not, if real, then we have the right to complain, and yes, I would rather take a 1mbit with unlimited nights(which I have now) as you can theoretically download 84GB without paying extra(Ogero) than a completely limited 40GB one

like I said.. tick tock...
HotCreep wroteMy down line attenuation has always been fixed on 24.5 db. today it became 23.5 out of no where. what does that mean?
I'm no expert in signals, but I think a 1dB change in line attenuation is usually negligible and doesn't necessarily mean something big happened to your line, mine was 43.5dB about 2 weeks ago and now it's 44.5dB after trying the ADSL2 to ADSL1 sync trick.
Just charged my account with the 23 dollars option 2 mb 70 gigs from Terranet. I've called the last few days like 3 times, every time the rep assured me they have unlimited nights eventhough it doesn't show on the website. Today, the rep explained to me why. Terra is still looking into the option of removing night traffic. any Terranet users got the same info?
I do not understand why on earth would they removed the unlimited night traffic. It is not like they pay per GB, they pay for bandwith per second... Be it ogero or these private ISPs. When they buy lets say 100 mbit/s worth of E1 cables, they pay for them whether they use them all the time or never. I do not think that after midnight the pressure will be so overwhelming for them, especially now with the big quotas since even fewer people will download after midnight. I for example will no longer need to wait for midnight for every little 6 MB mp3 or youtube video...
hello everyone, I am new here and this is my first post :)
I came across the ADSL sync trick while surfing the forums and i did it successfully, I witnessed a significant cut in ping (around 30 ms) and my modem stats got better (lower line attenuation and higher SN margin). The thing is when i called the tech support of IDM and asked about my max bandwidth the rep told me that my line couldn't handle more than 4mb!! knowing that my line could handle the 6mb plan before syncing to ADSL1 I asked the tech to wait on the line and I reset my modem so it auto syncs again to ADSL2+. After the reset, the man on the line told me that he doesn't know what happened but my line could handle 6mb again without knowing why. Is there any technical explanation for that ?!

"Technically" They might be stupid, or just don't have the knowledge to know why.

It's so annoying! I loved my stats after the sync, my online gaming improved (my ping to Paris server showed 61ms which was awesome).
I thought a lower attenuation and a higher Sn margin would give me higher speed! I don't know what the deal is.
The tech guy also said that my maximum bandwidth is 7.7mb so the 6mb plan would be risky and suggested that I connect my modem directly to the building phone box... what do you think guys?
If your maximum is 7.7 then you should be good with 6 mbps. What are your line stats? Also find out if your CO is capable of speeds more than 4 mbps. IDM tech support is variable, one day they'll tell you what your maximum speed is, the next day they'll ask you to email ccu@idm.net.lb and that they can't find out on the phone. I recently asked them about the FUP and ccu said it applies to all plans while the tech guy said that it only applies to the unlimited plans. So I really don't get it and I'm sure they don't either...
Can you tell me about the "trick" ? Never noticed it ...
Adnan it's on page 57 of this topic, it's easy and very useful.

Andrew I asked 3 different guys from IDM and they assured me that the FUP will only be applied to the unlimited plans and won't affect the free night quota (the last time was today) so I think they should know by now or let's just hope that's the case !

anyway here are my stats:

Uptime: 0 days, 2:48:46
DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 598 / 2.398
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 21,97 / 198,72
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,0 / 18,5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 26,1 / 40,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 22,8 / 14,9
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): -
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 51 / 19.616
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0

Here's the change in numbers when i sync to ADSL1 :

DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.1
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 578 / 2.4
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 26,1 / 37,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 22,8 / 23,9
Dear IDM,
The new ADSL plan list is great. Congratulations!
I’d like to be transitioned to the 4 mbps/50 GB plan if that’s the maximum speed I can get.
I also have three more questions:
1-      Will the FUP be only applied to ALL plans or just the unlimited plans?
2-      What is the GB limit at which FUP will applied?
3-      Will there still be unlimited nights (11-7)?
Your advice is appreciated.
Thank you!
Andrew

Dear Mr. Assaf,

Thank you for your email.

Please be informed that we will process with your upgrade request as you stated below at the end of this month .

Moreover, please note that the night free traffic will remain from 11 pm till 7 am . As for the Fair use policy , it will be applicable for all plans as mentioned on IDM website.

Regards,

When I tried ADSL1 sync, it lowered my attenuation and raised my SN Margin, however it increased by ping by 10-15ms for some reason so I switched back to ADSL2
So as you can see, contrary to what the tech team told you and I ccu is saying otherwise. Check their website. It says ALL above plans are subject to FUP. So I really don't know what's going on but I HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT!

With regards to your connection, im surprised you got a significant improvement on your line stats. Something to be happy about! You have a good SNr for a relatively long cable. I assume you're connected to a large CO. I think you should be able to get 6 at least if not 8. Email ccu and ask them to do a feasibility test on your line to see if you can get a higher speed. Ironically I have better numbers than yours and can't get more than 4..

I don't get it! what's the point of FUP for limited plans? they are limited! every extra GB will be paid !
Well neither do I .. they also had 2 stars next to the unlimited plans indicating FUP will be applied to those only.. the next day they took them off.. anyway.. time will tell..
