The new speeds that i saw on the other thread seem Great! Almost something like a Dream! (Lebanese Dream).
But i am too skeptical about it also, 99% nothing will happen.
Don't be pessimistic, it's not like we won't hear from them for months, they'll explain the details on March 23th.
I'm happy about the new prices and offers, though, I sure know Cyberia will still let your traffic finish even if it was 1TB, I don't know why.

So the traffic change won't really matter for me at this point, the only thing that will change is the speed.
again speeds have not changed. they only shuffled the plans and decreased the prices. the 1mbps users will have 2X their current speed. other than that the maximum attainable speed still appears to be on par of what is currently available. If you remember in 2011 the speed increase was much we went from 128kbps to 1mbps, and from 1mbps to 8mbps, which resulted in 8X speed improvement at the same price point.
The new upgrade simply does not focus on speed, but rather on prices and the monthly allowance
@haidcar
Its better than nothing.
And again like i said, if actually implemented,it would be like a dream here.
We can start having 2-4mbps connections with reasonable prices and big monthly quota.

Of course,at the end..If it actually gets done.

Personally, I think bigger quotas with a lower price is a better solution than faster speed.
The reason is simple, many people cannot even get a speed of 1 Mbps as they live far from the CO.
that's true , they lowered the prices alot, which means nearly all lebanese can get better speeds and much better quota,if you look at the old 6 to 8 mbps plan there were 30gb only and it was for 115$,now the rumored plans is 6 to 8 mbps for 44$ and 60gb so they improved the dsl packages alot.
I don't want faster connections or higher quotas. I want less outages. What's already available today is expensive, but the speed is okay to do most of the work (unless you're torrenting like a madman, and I have a hunch that the vast majority of this traffic is illegal).

Outages on the other hand are insane. Sometimes my connection just drops, for no apparent reason. Sometimes I cannot even connect to my ISP. Support channels are a joke.

For me to be able to work comfortably in Lebanon, I'd need a more reliable connection, not higher speeds. I don't mind scheduling my downloads over night. Don't get me wrong, I live in Paris and have a high end connection. It's cool to be able to download whatever I feel like it on the spot, and you cannot do this even on the most expensive corporate plans in Lebanon. But this is not required for me to work. However, if I have a video call with my team scheduled at 3pm and Internet connection just dropped for no reason, I'm screwed.

I applaud any work being done. Let's hope they'll deliver on what they're promising us. But advertising theoretical high speeds that I can reach for a few hours a day (on a good day), is NOT solving my issues...
I think the issue of getting disconnected isn't from Lebanon but from your ISP.

My ISP never dropped the internet, I usually get a constant internet connection, with no disconnection or whatsoever (except the electricity, you can build a UPS)

But it sure does steal your traffic like hell.
I'm with audi on this connection is VERY stable with cyberia but i am sure they are stealing traffic. Contacting them next month rage mail should do the trick.
Yeah I'm with ogero and I rarely get any outage.
What's your ISP Rahmu ?
Fixed broadband (DSL) reliability in lebanon is pretty good, Mobile broadband (Edge, HSDPA, LTE, along with WiMax and mobi...) on the other hand is highly unreliable. I have tried fixed broadband connection in several other countries and lebanon is on par in terms of reliability.

The number of connected devices is increasing exponentially, gaming consoles, tablets, smartphones, smart TVs, and soon smart watches... you get the point soon everything will be connected, and it is sooner than you think. speed plays an integral part, it is simply absurd to have all these devices connected to a 2, 4 or 8mbps connection.

Having high speed internet does not mean going download frenzy on pirated content. I strongly believe that High speed Internet ( along affordable content prices) is the only solution to piracy. Buy you will never have companies such as Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming providers offering their services here.

Today the average size of a casual game on a tablet is around 100mb, on the other hand next gen consoles and PC games are reaching astronomical sizes of 30GB and 40GB. it is 2014 and if you want to enjoy 720p and even 1080p you will need to subscribe to fastest connection just for that. and lets not talk about 4k

Let's team on this (I'm going to rage call them).

When are we going to get actual dynamic IP addresses for each subscriber? Or am I still dreaming?
Avoid their phone support team it is useless. The real technical people who know what is going on are available by email, last time the phone support guys refused to put me in the gamer's pool and told me to contact them by email.
I am in favor of more quota. I did not get the details of this improvement though. I can't find the details.

Anyway does that explain why ogero's latency doubled for me in jounieh?(they could be testing or rewiring)

anyway I wouldn't put too much faith in this. We placed a lot of faith in the cable 3 years ago and we speculated imaginary number. Our quota remained the same(basically uploads and downloads were merged and a bit was added) and we were given speed only to finish our quota faster.

Our internet copper based network is too outdated to handle a lot of simultaneous traffic...

I am with cyberia and I have a unique dynamic IP. If you are on the gaming server you should have a unique dynamic IP , if you have a fake IP , then contact them and demand a real IP they will fix it in couple days.
Let's just hope that 2M unlimited package doesn't have BS FUP. Because if it doesn't, then this will be the perfect package (for me). I don't need 1080p to enjoy something. I just don't like it when stuff is limited.

FUP defeats the purpose of unlimited , there is packages now that are unlimited but with crappy ping and FUP , if we are paying 50$ for unlimited it should be same as now just with no quota
I just realized if they cancel the unlimited nightly traffic it would be a step backwards for us. We can do more than 40 or 50GB per month on nightly traffic with decent speeds.
