Reference please?
As far as I know, Sehnaoui mentioned the FTTH project in 25 July, and said that by the end of this year Fiber-optics network will cover all of Lebanon (
The Daily Star). I'm just wondering how much latency the copper cabling from my home to the nearest fiber line will make!

My area is getting fiber optics from ogero by the end or mid of this month.

Inside sources but let us just say not all information you get in this country is accurate.

As I'm having issues with terranet lately, i'm considering swapping to another ISP before the end of the year. I live in zouk if that matters. As far as I know IDM and Ogero are the best ones and offer the most stable connection. I'm probably going to opt fora 2mbps / 20gb package however I would like some feedback on which do you consider better. I use my connection mostly for gaming so having low latency is the priority, I also download a lot of games/tv series, my current usage per month is about 50-100gb using the unlimited night plan, so I can't have anything that would put me on FUP but as far as I know none of these 2 have one, correct me if I'm wrong. There's no IDM feedback thread so I had to ask here.

AhmadT wroteHey, i did a request to ogero to change my plan from 1mb 10gb to 2mb 20gb on 16 september, how much time does it need to apply my request?
You'll get your new plan at the beginning of the next month. Not necessarily tomorrow, give them a week to update your plan.

Hello!
I want to know if any of you noticed how bad the web browsing is bad in Achrafieh for the last 10 days using ADSL.
Whatever I am at home or at work (both adsl connected to same Sassine centrale) I noticed lot of server not responding errors while browsing,I accuse a bad DNS because using Viber or downloads have no problems at all, only web browsing. Sometime I need to refresh 10x to open a page.
I tried everything with Cyberia hotline:
-Tried on WIFI instead of cable
-Reset totally my router
-Changed the phone filter
-Tried on different browsers
But still same problem.
When using Ultrasurf I have no web browsing errors, meaning again a DNS problem is possible.
What do you say?

I am not sure but the DNS should be ISP related not central related. I have 2 connections at home: Ogero and IDM same central with 2 different DNS.
Use a public DNS on the router instead of Cyberia's DNS. I use Google's public DNS on my IDM connection because IDM's DNS doesnt work from time to time (couple of times per week).
Google's public DNS:
primary: 8.8.8.8
secondary: 8.8.4.4

Hello,
Since the beginning of November, I have the 1 Mbps unlimited plan from IDM.
But the thing is that it's not really 'unlimited' as they say; I can only download torrent between 23:00 and 7:00 (as the users who haven't the unlimited plan).
So, is there a way to make the download of torrents possible anytime?
Thanks

Hey guys, lately on this forum I've seen a lot of people mentioning "cable internet" that has amazing speeds for a reasonable price. Can someone please explain what this is to me ?

Does anyone know how long it takes to set up a new ADSL subscription with IDM? I remember when I switched from Ogero to IDM, it took a month so they could have enough time to itch their nuts and transfer the connection. But this time I moved to a new house and we cancelled the old connection completely and now we want to create a new one as a new user. So anyone know how long it takes?

Moving to Beirut soon.. trying to figure out what internet package to purchase. I have a lot of questions but I would appreciate any relevant advice:
1. Which company is the best internet provider? What types of connection are there (adsl, GSM, or other)?
2. Is the connection there stable, or is there many problems? Is it enough stable to support youtube, skype, and other daily internet activity?
3. What are the packages available in terms of prices, download/upload speed, and maximum download space? Are the actual speeds the same as the advertised speeds?
4. Are any packages fast enough for file sharing and torrents? What happens if you go over the maximum space?
Any answers or tips on where to find information would be great! Thanks for the help :)

Honestly, All are BAD, but the best of them is Ogero DSL, stable ping and speed, and over fiber all time.

You can watch youtube at 360p if you take the 1mbps(its basically 100kb/s its just that 1bit is 8 bytes) package with no problem. The pings are good, skype has no problem. Most companies have the basic 1mbps /10 gb of download with upload for 25 dollars. With ogero dsl, if you go over the limit ,you pay 600ll for 100Mb or fraction of 100Mb over the limit. Sodetel offers an unlimited package 1mbps speed, but if you download too much they slow your internet down(in some cases, the speed goes under 20kilobytes!!) Plus it has a really bad ping. Unlimited downloads at night.you can download torrent easily.hope this helps.
sorry for the bad writing I'm on my phone.

Ogero is slowly becoming as bad as all the other isps. As I previously said in another post, I have a huge number of ping timeouts lately.

Same goes here...
But I do know that Cyberia is taking way more traffic than what is being used.
