bilanio wroteHi Guys,
any updates on the Ogero internet state in Bchamoun?
my friends in aramoun are updates both IDM and ogero! any ideas if we were forgotten?
thanks
Thank god im not the only one in the same situation
I already called ogero a million times - they gave me the regular line are too weak excuse
Thought i'd do a little research on my own, i gathered info from people who had their internet upgraded and are part of the Khaldeh CO - i.e Aramoun, Khaldeh and Bchamoon residents
All my data showed that all residents of Aramoun and Khaldeh got their upgrades
I later asked for SN margin values - a crucial value reported by modems that tell us if we are eligble for upgrade
Simple thing is:
Can the 1mbit be achievable by our lines ? - Yes, and it can be to be exact 1.5mbit is the most
Can it reach our house ? No. A very big no
Via PM's, to another member on the forums who had a similar problem, i was informed that the SN margin as reported by our modems decreases some 6db when the speed is doubled.
English:
The SN margin from MOST modems in bchamoon (i gavered the values from 5 including my own) will report at best 12db, but usually its always aroujnd 8-10
If, for example, we are on 256kbit connection (which i assume you are too) then imagine what will happen to the SN value if you double the connection twice. Once to 512kbit, and then to 1mbit
Basically The modem will have such a low value, if nothing at all, that the modem will fail the sync and hence no internet
The only way around this is that
A. We get our own centraal here (doubtful)
B . Repeaters installed in our area to help boost the signal (doubtful)
- to be frank with you, im going to wait it out till summer, if not ill just pay up and get a nice satellite based connection from some re-seller - should hit around 1mbit speeds and it shouldnt cost more than 40$ at most per month, that along with the 24,000LL DSL OGERO connection for gaming should satisfy my needs.
If you don't, mind, please call in to ogero with me every once in a while and nag about it - also try requesting to talk to a tech coordinator (not an assistant) they usually "help" or are able to give some sort of ETA or course of action for bchamoon, so far the last thing i was told that once they have finished upgrading the Ogero plans (lately people who have requested higher speeds than 1mbit like 2 and 4mbit from ogero) they will start looking into what they can / are able to do in such said areas.
I already put forward to the idea to deduce fees, it isn't fair that if i can't reach my 4GB quota (due to EXTREMELY SLOW SPEEDS and disconnections) that i still have to pay the 24,000LL that normal people pay but are recieving the extra speed. I even suggested that we should pay 1/4 of the price for 1/4 of the speed, the guy gave a little chuckle over the phone ! .. All in all im trying to stay positive, but to be honest with you a 256kbit connection is unacceptable, even picture browsing is hell with such speed - and i HIGHLY DOUBT that we will EVER get any sort of upgrade here in bchamoon - just my experiance of so far living in this country.
