Ahmad Toutounji wroteWe can now change plans by calling 1515 then 0, you need to send photo of id card to an ogero whatsapp number or email
I confirm this as I have just done it earlier today. The employee was very helpful and well informed.
Ahmad Toutounji wroteAnd i emailed thepeople@ogero.gov.lb asking about vdsl, they told me to call nearest pos to assist me
Yeah I got the same reply from them, but as I mentioned earlier they didn't help much as all I could get from the POS employee was that my line can handle more than 8 Mbps. Hope you manage to get more info from them and please do let us know in case you do.

Is there any specific time to call ?

Silentcontrol wrote go to your router and give me your line attenuation.
the speed basically depends on how far away from the CO you are.
here you go buddy : Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31,5 / 54,0
sorry to break the news dude max speed you can get 4.5 Mb/s you are at 3.9 km away from the CO
No bro, his line can only handle 1 Mbps or less , because my line attenuation is 39 and the max i got during the test day is 5 mbps. The online calculator you are using is not applicable to Lebanon as you can only use it to determine the distance and not the max speed.

true, I have to wait for active cabinet to be installed which will take forever depending on how fast work's done here in Lebanon, guess I'm out of luck :/

It is applicable to Lebanese wires. All wires are the same. Attenuation is a factor of distance, and the maximum speed you get depends on the attenuation you have. At 39 dB, you get 7114mbps over ADSL and 9570mbps over ADSL2+ and VDSL2. Any lower speed than that means you're not getting your maximum speed.

jazzzar wrote so guys when these services are activated, what work should we do to switch to these fiber optic services?
Digging underground which will cost you about 1000-2000 USD to intall fiber from the closest cabinet to your premises. I suggest you stick to DSL open speed packages which are way faster until we getter better fiber optic plans. 50mbps is a joke for a fiber optic installation.
OH well never mind about getting fiber optic then, so I just checked new DSL plans and noticed that in the open speed ones we got this "depending on copper wire capacity", what does that exactly mean? how do we know the capacity of the copper wire?
You calculate your attenuation then you calculate your maximum achievable speed. The distance shown is the distance to the last fiber cable ending, in most cases the closest cabinet. If that's less than 800 meters you can expect speeds of 100mbps.

I ain't paying for fiber optic thingy anyway, guess I'll stay with DSL and wait for them to install active cabinet than go with open speed plan
Hello, in my modem stats there is something called " Delay (msec)"
on adsl 2 , downstream delay is 0.92 upstream 0.25
but while on t1 413 or Gdt, the delay is 0.25 on both down and up stream
what is that ?
while on 0.25 up down, it is more stable on online gaming ,
hint: the ping is the same on both modulation

any help
?
My Sodetel connection can only reach the Sodetel website and the DSL info in which I am prompted to sign in each time I visit (not usual). The technical and sales department numbers are out of service.

Update: It's back to normal.

Thank you so much for informing us. I'll do that on Monday and it'll be active August first then.
I called 1515-0 they won't take plan changes over the phone for now, but soon they will. As for vdsl, we also have to go to pos and submit a request to chk the line(if its less than 1 km for exchange) then they will clear the activation. In both later cases we still have to go to pos, that's what the guy told me :(
Try to call them tomorrow. They don't work today
I called them yesterday and I'm waiting for a whatsapp message from them till Monday
Hello guys,

I have line line Line Attenuation (Up/Down) 33/22.1, is that good or bad?

Less than 1km.... there goes my vdsl dream
I don't have access to my stats because I have been busy lately but will email Mr. Refai this week so I can access to my line stats. I did talk to a friend of mine who told me based on distance alone, I should be getting around 12 mbps and if that is the case, I will go with the 4 mbps unlimited plan. It all depends if they connected me to the cabinet or not (<1.1km away) because sometimes they aren't too quick to do that.

And I will try for the third time to email thepeople@ogero.gov.lb----I guess getting a reply from them really depends on dumb luck and I have not been dumb enough yet.
They replied through whatsapp for change of plans : please note that the new prices will start on 1st of august, you will only be eligible for the old plans this month and your plan will be automatically fixed by august.

Do you mean they replied to you after you have sent the ID photos to the whatsapp number?
Cause I sent them the photos yesterday morning and I still haven't gotten a reply (confirmation of receipt) from them !
