well we should wait for ogero's unlimited night to fix that problem
Internet in Lebanon - General Questions
seems that new plans will be implemented on August 01 for all ISPs not just Ogero
Did anyone get in touch with ogero about how we can apply to vdsl?

don't get me started about vdsl and ogero, so much mixed info about it. Latest info i got about it is that there is only 1 plan for it which is openspeed and 100gb ONLY for 100,000 L.LAhmad Toutounji wroteDid anyone get in touch with ogero about how we can apply to vdsl?

Vdsl and adsl plans are the same yes, the one you're talking about is hdsl
i know that already and told them so, but the person talking to me is convinced that there is only 1 plan only with such pricing :DAhmad Toutounji wroteVdsl and adsl plans are the same yes, the one you're talking about is hdsl
well, contacted nader el refai via email because my speed's still 1Mbps after the 2Mbps /40GB plan upgrade and he replied that my area only has 1Mbps max speed, how will new plans and all this s**t benefit me in any way?
If your max rate is 1 Mb/s it MEans you are very far from the CO the first step of the plan wont affect you and will not feel any change until you get a cabinet installed ( FTTC) .jazzzar wrotewell, contacted nader el refai via email because my speed's still 1Mbps after the 2Mbps /40GB plan upgrade and he replied that my area only has 1Mbps max speed, how will new plans and all this s**t benefit me in any way?

No you don't.kfc wrotefiber to home only or fiber to cabinet too?Silentcontrol wroteno thats not a DSL plan it's a fiber to home plan!Ahmad Toutounji wroteCan we take the 300gb 50$ plan even if we can't reach 50mb and don't have fiber?
with fiber home you can get much more tthan 50mbps.
With a GPON configuration you get 156 mbps and with a with a 10-GPON configuration you get 625mbps which is far from having a gigabit internet connection. But that's still decent for now if we ever get a 156 mbps connection.
Should you be living close to a cabinet (less than 100 meters), you can get 750mbps (up to 800mbps), if you get a G.Fast connection which is a type of DSL. But good luck finding a router that supports this type of internet. There is only 1 router in the world that supports G.Fast.
To anyone concerned about VDSL and open speed plans. Your best friend would be VDSL2.
DSL, ADSL, ADSL2+, VDSL, VDSL2, VPlus, G.Fast are all DSL technologies operating on the same copper wire but on different frequencies called profiles. For instance VDSL2 can be profile 17a or 30a (and their respective operating frequencies according to ITU-T standards). VPlus is called profile 35b (and operates at 35MHz).
Now the best solution to anyone would be a VDSL2 connection (profile 17a) which yields 100 mbps up to 800 meters. Modems are available online and affordable. VDSL2 profile 30a will provide 200mbps for a long distance too with affordable modems.
Refer to the following chart for more info:

My guess best friend will be that one is which supported by DSLAM at centrale :)
Since we're discussing this topic, could someone explain why are modems supporting VPlus ( profile 35b) so rare to find ? I remember I could only find ones supporting up to 17a when I was looking for a modem a couple of weeks ago.
Tplink TD-W9970 supports g.vector(which is vdsl2 vectoring) and it is a cheap modem too

guys, either we are incorrect about vdsl and its plans and pricing, or ogero staff is misinformed about it.
Again they are insisting there is only 1 plannnnnnnn (open speed and 100gb for 100,000 l.l).
Please somebody communucate with imad kreidieh to get a clear and definitive answer and ask him if the same plans open speed (50,100,150, and 200gb) of ADSL are the same for VDSL.

They are right but outdated, they are talking about the current open speed 100gb which costs 100000 , and it is the only open speed plan, they don't know what the upcoming plans are lol ==)Almighty wroteguys, either we are incorrect about vdsl and its plans and pricing, or ogero staff is misinformed about it.

Great news guys, Mr Imad just replied to my private message asking about FUP with the upcoming free night. He said their won't be FUP like other ISPs
It is good to know, can you ask him when free night going to be available and if it's going to be paid or free

Not great news for me, as we all know how work's done here in lebanon, installing a cabinet will take ages,THAT if they even do install one :(Silentcontrol wroteIf your max rate is 1 Mb/s it MEans you are very far from the CO the first step of the plan wont affect you and will not feel any change until you get a cabinet installed ( FTTC) .jazzzar wrotewell, contacted nader el refai via email because my speed's still 1Mbps after the 2Mbps /40GB plan upgrade and he replied that my area only has 1Mbps max speed, how will new plans and all this s**t benefit me in any way?

so guys when these services are activated, what work should we do to switch to these fiber optic services?
I will, but I don't think I'll get an answer because he never managed to answer two questions back to back with me :PAhmad Toutounji wroteIt is good to know, can you ask him when free night going to be available and if it's going to be paid or free

It's a shame to see we will have to wait another 10 years to get Fiber speed at logic prices, you can have a fiber plan 5x faster with 3x more downloads quotas for the 1/2 the price in Europe
Iam wondering why Ogero Doesn't have any FUP on the new offers of open bandwidth.. Similarly with old plans too. I have been with Ogero for 9 years and I am not planning to switch (for stable connection , near the CO , good service over all , no dips).
C'mon man, let's be realistic here!!.....infiniteloop wrote

It's more like 5x faster with no download quotas for less than 1/2 the price in Europe :^)

How about we take the average speed, quota and price of the internet in the world, and compare that average with the upcoming plans...
We don't have to compare ourselves with the best of the best...
What are you gonna do next? Compare it with south koreas internet?
Be fair..
Digging underground which will cost you about 1000-2000 USD to intall fiber from the closest cabinet to your premises. I suggest you stick to DSL open speed packages which are way faster until we getter better fiber optic plans. 50mbps is a joke for a fiber optic installation.jazzzar wrote so guys when these services are activated, what work should we do to switch to these fiber optic services?
in my case IF they agree to activate vdsl on my line I will get max 23-35mbps which is <50mbps, but paying more than 200$ for fiber is useless if I can get 20mbps speedhAdy_994 wroteDigging underground which will cost you about 1000-2000 USD to intall fiber from the closest cabinet to your premises. Because no one uses them. Ubee TVW624, ASUS DSL-AC87VG
G.Fast (backward compatible with 35b):
ASUS DSL-AC88U
Do you know the vlan id in Lebanon? For setting up the VDSL2 Modem
OH well never mind about getting fiber optic then, so I just checked new DSL plans and noticed that in the open speed ones we got this "depending on copper wire capacity", what does that exactly mean? how do we know the capacity of the copper wire?hAdy_994 wroteDigging underground which will cost you about 1000-2000 USD to intall fiber from the closest cabinet to your premises. From the unleash the speed tests they did back in april, some got 20M and some didn't exceed 4M depending on your distance from the central.jazzzar wroteOH well never mind about getting fiber optic then, so I just checked new DSL plans and noticed that in the open speed ones we got this "depending on copper wire capacity", what does that exactly mean? how do we know the capacity of the copper wire?hAdy_994 wroteDigging underground which will cost you about 1000-2000 USD to intall fiber from the closest cabinet to your premises. the speed basically depends on how far away from the CO you are.
here you go buddy : Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31,5 / 54,0Silentcontrol wrotego to your router and give me your line attenuation.jazzzar wroteOH well never mind about getting fiber optic then, so I just checked new DSL plans and noticed that in the open speed ones we got this "depending on copper wire capacity", what does that exactly mean? how do we know the capacity of the copper wire?hAdy_994 wrote

Hello, in my modem stats there is something called " Delay (msec)"
on adsl 2 , downstream delay is 0.92 upstream 0.25
but while on t1 413 or Gdt, the delay is 0.25 on both down and up stream
what is that ?
while on 0.25 up down, it is more stable on online gaming ,
hint: the ping is the same on both modulation
http://imgur.com/EInmnmT
any help
?

Morning,
I couldn't test my internet speed on unleash the speed day a few months ago so I am trying to get that info from Ogero before being switched to open speed plan at the start of next month.
Anyone managed to get a clear answer from Ogero regarding the max attainable speed and VDSL viability on their line? Upon contacting the POS in my area today, all I could get from them was that my line can handle more than 8 Mbps. Nothing about my max attainable speed (beyond 8 Mbps) or VDSL viability of my line.
EDIT: I tweeted ogertelecom and Mr. Imad in hopes of getting redirected to someone with more technical knowledge than the POS employee to answer the questions I have.
