There is some rumors, that ministers/parliament will do a really good regulation for internet market. It should improve service for customers and tackle "illegal cable providers issue" in proper manner with giving them chance to work (but if they provide service lawfully and proper quality).
If it will happen same as i hope, it should be much bigger improvement, than just "speed boost"/"price drop".
Let's hope a 4mbps unlimited plan from Ogero for the same price as now.

Let's hope poor saps like myself actually get a 2mbps connection instead of paying the same money for a crappy 1mbps connection.

I believe it is not in MoT hands, even they wants to improve internet, others might not let them.
I see that most of you are thriving for the smallest of news, so there's this:
A friend of mine who works at Ogero wrote Tuesday the 30th around 7 PM Musta MT & I (#LebNETGeeks) will be doing a live stream about the #INTERNET in #Lebanon.
The discussion will include the common words & questions we always get (#ADSL, #VDSL, #Fiber) in addition to a small troubleshooting to diagnose the issues users get.

I asked whether there will be any information about new plans, the answer was "kind of", so. I'll report back on Tuesday.
VDSL and FTTC. They talk about this at 30:00
I am currently paying for the 2mbps unlimited plan with Ogero but when I applied for it they said my line can't handle more than 1 mbps I live in Dekwaneh which is not that far from the central in Jdeideh. Was anyone else told the same thing? When I go to the Ogero site it explicitly states that my plan in 1 mbps unlimited, I wonder if it was intentionally limited for a good reason. Is there anything I can do about this? The 1mbps from Ogero still feels much faster and lower ping than the shitty 1.5 from Sodetel but it's still laughable in 2016.

DSL only provides 1mbps maximum upload here in Lebanon, but most providers have them set to 512 only.
You are better with a cable guy, talk to him and tell your needs, they mostly buy same download speed and upload, and most of the time upload is not used. So try and talk to a trusted one.
I am on 6-8 Mbps Ogero Planning , Tipping 720 Kb/s on download speeds which is good to me.
