the speeds that you could achieve on 3g/4g are very satisfying, so if there were decrease in prices, or increase in monthly quota ( 10 GB for 10 $ say ) or an introduction of an unlimited plan that would be a big deal.
( I know it's very far fetched but we're desperate )
4G, yeah, We didn't even reach the 3G+ cap in Internet speed, the best speed I saw on 3G was 14mbps
So, what did he say?
Adnan wroteSo, what did he say?
He said that the 2020 fiber project has been pulled to the end of 2017(Every house should have fiber by then).
And that the reduced prices(probably if 4g) are nearly ready and need approval of مجلس الوزاراء.
And 4g+ will be ready within 3 months.
I think he also said about all prices will go down(not just mobile), but It will be done gradually.
He talked about his wishes and urged alfa and touch to reduce their 4g prices ASAP.
Wondering how will the fiber reach my house (bil jirid) ?:D:D:
kamalkh wroteHey everyone? I have a question and i hope any of you could help me figure how to find a good upload service.

if you need it you can check a cable provider near you tell him that all you care about is upload he can affoard giving you 4 Mb/s up and about 1 down because all his clients needs the download if you get what i mean.

“The experts and technicians at the Telecommunications Ministry may be able to install the fiber-optic network before 2020 and may even accomplish this task at the end of 2017. This network will become available next year and will reach every house in Lebanon,” Harb said.

He stressed that his plan to modernize the internet and fiber optics has proceeded despite the attempts of some political parties to torpedo the project.

Harb added that Lebanon will eventually be switched from copper network to the high-quality and faster fiber-optic technology."

How many times we have heard this without any shred of evidence that this will be implemented by the time they day it will.

I'm very skeptical about the time of switching to the fiber optic network, quality of the connections, quota and pricing. And I don't know if this is a tranlation issue or not, but the "maybe" in his wording is off putting and raises a lot of skepticism about what he says.

Anyways, I will be very very partially optimistic and will see how it goes. We're in 2016 now and we barely have any semblance of true wired broadband connectivity anywhere in the country that is decent and reliable.
This might be applied in some areas in Beirut, as far as I'm concerned, I didn't see anyone from Ogero digging the cables underground to replace it with fiber optic next to my house, and I'm still waiting my 2mbps ADSL to be upgraded to 4mbps, meanwhile a friend studying in Germany has 100mbps in his dorm and 600mbps in his office, the difference between 2 speed test in these 2 places (margin of error of his internet) is 10 times better than of my internet (~20mbps)
i think before fiber to home a sign would be something like VDSL or fiber to cabinet maybe that will give us some proofs and that would make me be optimistic:D
i doubt that we will jump from ADSL with 8m max speed to fiber optics
maybe it will still be dsl speeds but over fiber optics that seems like something our government would do to steal our money:D
It is highly likely that the telecom ministry is targeting the max throughput of ADSL2+ which is 24 Mbps downstream and about 1.5 Mbps upstream. So we are not talking about VDSL speeds here and dont think we require FTTH to reach such speeds.
And that would be a bad move
What i'm saying is for them to make me believe they going to imstall fiber to home by the end of 2017 i need to see some considerable improvements like moving to vdsl if they add adsl speeds people that cant get the average speed now wont even d
Feel it and 1.5 mb upload is hilariously bad for some of us
Any news about ADSL new prices?
I hope the 6mb/s will be at the (old) price of the 4mb/s, though if Mr Harb was respecting his own words 1 year ago we should have by now 20mb/s for the price of the 4mb/s...
