They posted that email during the resetting period because many had problems. I was one of them and they replied though it wasn't informative much but then i was able to solve the prob because i wasn't receiving the resetting email.

I updated my ps3 to v 3.70, is PSN active now? I'm willing to play Mortal Kombat.

man.. IDK.. i never played online... i dont even have a PSN account.. im gonna make one as soon as i get a router to go online on ps3... btw.. if i have a cable internet.. can there be internet on my ps3 without getting a router and just plugging in my cable internet on the ps3 ??
it will work. But since usually "cable" connections are crap, i doubt you will be able to play without lag.

By the way you need to update your ps3 before going online and it takes a while so don't get psyched as soon as you plug in the cable and create your account.
