Tech Guru wrotePlayStation 5 will cost a massive $1032, A Danish Store listed its pre-order:

Thats impossible. They have xbox to compete with and could if it had a price like that it wont sell. Probably a mistake.

Playstation 5 :

Most probably a pre-order price of 500-600ish MSRP ( reaching here 800ish) , but to me it is a much heavier investment overall:

Here are some points

50 × 5 years life cycle = 250 usd yearly membership for Online Gaming + a 1K investment for a an entry " good " 4K UHD 2160p TV much higher for a TV with HDMI 2.1 to enable "pesudo" 2160p 120hz. PS Plus Free games are old from my experience in PS4 Pro.

1 TB storage are nonsense now with each 60GB games min , mega downloads and updates with digital advantage of discounted games on PS Plus. Add an external storage to the equation.

And personally I donot trust AMD Gpu tech in raw Tflops as an example of actual performance short example.

Vega 64 vs 1080ti
12.66 Tflops vs 11.3 Tflops yet the 1080ti beaten its ass in everything.

Beside, DirectX 12 ultimate is coming as a universal API , not in raw rasterization rather in the embedded tech like real time rendering that AMD going into after 2 years inn RDNA 2 architecture.

Point Here mate , Comparing as stand alone console vs a Gaming PC is none sense. Bringing a Console is an investment in itself .. As such usually they should be less < 1k regardless of the embedded hardware. There are a lot of "hidden costs" with console to have a console experience.

People assume Oh that is an 600ish console matching a 1.5K PC .. #Nonsense

Better to drop a 1.5 - 2k Desktop

I see your point in that, and while I do agree with everything you mentioned, the biggest counterargument is exclusives.

Most (if not all) Xbox games are coming to PC, where you can enjoy them with as high of a quality you would like, so I do not see the appeal in owing an Xbox at all. Nintendo and PS consoles on the other hand, have the best exclusives.

If I recall correctly, you mentioned on a separate thread when God of War came out, just how good of a game it was. There a ton of exclusives out there, which is the sole reason I own a PS4 (non-pro mind you; I only have it to play the game on a 720p TV) and am looking to get a switch.

I am not saying I will purchase the PS5 on launch date, but as long as the exclusives are that good, I know I will be buying the consoles for the games and playing them at sub-par quality just for the experience.

Agree. I have enjoyed Sony Exclusives on the PS4 Pro they nail it in:

Gameplay
Graphic Engines / Image Fidelity
Animations
Storyline
Optimization
HDR Implemention (In Recent exclusives)

However , Sony sadly is gradually losing its exclusives:

Horizon Zero Dawn
MLB: The Show
Detroit: Become Human
Nioh
NieR: Automata
Death Stranding

I suspect more will detach the Sony exclusivity like BloodBorne (now fully supported by PCSX4  emulator which I tested - higher FPS with no 30fps lock along with AA injection)

Unreal Engine 5 running at 1440p 30fps on the PS5 is an embarrassment , with cliams of native 2160p 60hz and even 120hz. If 2018 - 2019 titles run at 60hz 2160p and next gen engines at run at 1440p 30fps , this will be sad news for the PS5.

https://www.windowscentral.com/unreal-engine-5-footage-ran-1440p-ps5-features-no-ray-tracing?amp

UR Engine 5 will be the upcoming industry standard for next gen games and ealism. If the PS5 kick offs at 1440p 30fps , what will happen for the next AAA games during the console life cycle ?

Blaming non - optimization vs the technical hardware capabilities:

Consoles are known for compromises even on very optimized titles. They have a bullish pre release marketing claim, but the reality fades away expectations. The trend now is 2160p 60fps or even 120fps gaming .The singnal ouput will support that as the Pro PS4 does. However, the actual internal rendering will follow the same tricks of checkerboard , upscaled , and dynamic rendering. Simply I donot trust AMD graphic solutions , including the upcoming RDNA 2.0 archirecture. A 10 or 12 Tflops of theoratical computational power will be most probably mirrored less on practicle rendering. Vega 64 vs 1080ti tells a niche story.

Who will locally get the PS5 on its release around the 18 th of this month ? I know Fattal , Sony official distributor, will dustribute the units.

Anyone set a preoder or know a reliable shop who will have it on its release date? What will be the expected price of the Disc version?

check ninostore they will probably get it :)
Good luck securing one
Apparently, Spinneys is going to have PS5s in stock on November 19th via their online store. They won't announce the price until then and they haven't provided many details other than their Instagram post.

Indeed, I saw their post yesterday. Their info is ambiguous though. I contacted several shops here like:

Gamestop-LB
GameStation (Agha)
Gamsland

All told me they will provide me info next week. I think they are waiting for Fattal to give them the green light and pricing. I will be paying in fesh USD. Also, I am looking for the fully fledged package.

A 2nd Dual Sense Controller
HD Camera
Official PS5 Headset
Official Charging Station
And a PS5 Game : Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Ed.

One downside , that PS5 games cannot be played from an external HDD. Only PS4 games that are backward compatible. Added to that , even PS5 games cannot be moved to external HDD ( Digital Foundry highlighted that). Sony at lunch diasabled the support of any 3rd party Nvme PCI Gen 4 expansion SSDs. This will be ideal solution with a software update and a lost of compatible SSDs. Samsung 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD is a great choice. PS5 usable storage is indeed underwhelming , 667.2GB, with the above restrictions at least at lunch , will be problematic. AAA games sizes , updates , and patches are exponentially increasing.
Guys it is possible to convert hdmi 2.1 to display port? I have asus gaming monitor with hdmi 1.2 and display port. Or it is useless in this case?

Thanks
abed tahan says they’re sold out lol

edit: They also said they didn’t specify a price for the customers and it’s going to be between $600 and $750 (which is insane)

HDMI 2.1 bandwidth is superior of any display port
