iPhone

For those of you that didn't know, the consumer electronics show (CES) has been going on for about 3 days now in Las Vegas. Lots of new and innovative products from various companies large and small have been showcased at the show.

Only a few hours ago Steve Job finally announced the iPhone. An all apple brand touchscreen only phone, ie the whole phone is a touch screen. From what the phone can do and how it looks it really looks amazing, just have to wait and see actual reviews of people using them.

Few key features
-Runs OSx
-2 megapixel camera
-wifi, bluetooth
-4GB model and 8GB model

Check out the below links for more information on the product

bass anyways, it seems it has some few problems. it's not 3G compatible (who cares for that, we need 20 more years to have 3G in lebanon), u cant remove the battery, u cant install new softwares

ana what i considered getting is teh sony ericsson bluetooth watch ( http://www.sonyericsson.com/bluetoothwatch/ , http://www.mobiledia.com/news/51784.html )

bass anyways, for the iPhone, really cool, really nice looking, bass i'll wait for some reviews first. it's getting out in june in teh USA?

Re: iPhone

yes that is true, the iPhone does not fall under the category of smartphones, therefore extra apps cannot be easily installed. On the other hand any geek who has a phone like that will not let that stop them, i'm sure you'll find linux on the phone soon

that's for the problem about installing softwares. but as mahdoum said, there will probably be ways to go around this.
and mahdoum, in a way, it's already running unix as it runs mac osx.

Re: iPhone

Heres a few more interesting stuff,

When the iPhone was announced at the CES, people directly started talking about cisco suing apple for their 7 year old patent. But cisco said that there have been talks between them and Apple and that by tomorrow they would come to an agreement. Turns out that Cisco didn't want money, they wanted some rights of the phone ie be able to re-create some parts of it. But Apple seems to have refused and so now Cisco are sueing Apple.

the iPhone runs on a samsung processer and not an intel processer, although the reason seems to be to keep the slim factor like many samsung phones

I read the article.
If the phone OS is well designed, then applications shouldnt pose a danger for the stability of the device. Maybe there are sales motives behind this decision to restrict applications, so that apple has the monopoly on selling apps.

Re: iPhone

The iPhone trademark belongs to Cisco, their using it on their linksys range of wifi phones if i'm not mistaken.

I wonder how the sue happy american ppl at Cisco didn't attack apple yet..

Re: iPhone

lol yeah they agreed to both use the name but cisco get to mingle and know more about how the iPhone actually functions, which is supposedly what cisco asked for in the first place
