You can accelerate your computer on startup by downloading mike lin's startup control panel - mlin.net, it's a very easy, small, and usefull piece of freeware  | I Also recommend you to download the "startup monitor" as its a real time monitor that will tell you if a program registers to boot on startup it's also useful to detect trojans and malcious apps trying to run on startup.

btw there is this adware/spyware removal toolbar called go go smthn (forgot the name) that does the trojan trick ... i know the name sounds lame but the program is very effective
