There should be a strict Fair Usage Policy, otherwise Ogero's connection will be as miserable as the private ISPs' connection. People should grow up and stop downloading the whole internet just because they can.

again and again I repeat: as far as I can see, Ogero users' speeds, pings, and stability are unaffected by the unlimited night traffic, so I don't see a need for a FUP, little alone a STRICT one. if it's not broke, don't fix it.

edit: so far I only see Jinx getting the high ping at night, which is weird considering me and Kareem are getting normal pings

I'm doing to do a few speed and ping tests now and compare them at the unlimited traffic time and see how much a difference are we talking about it here. If the difference on ping is 30-100ms, then yes I would agree on a FUP, but 3-10ms is barely noticeable.

Too early to judge... not everyone knows about Ogero providing Unlimited night traffic, too many people are switching to Ogero from other ISPs ( at least people I know ); Migrating from ISP to another takes a month or more so expect the service to be affected in July.

I also know many guys who are not aware of Ogero latest annoucement... remember it's a geeks forum and we are the first to know about it.

well the minister announced it on Local TV and had a press conference before that announced the decree, anyways by then more bandwidth will be available to handle the increased stress

here's the tests

Before 12AM:

just a couple of minutes ago(after 12AM):------------------------------------------------------------------------------

also testing downloading the speed is stable at an average of 107KB/s

as you can see the connection is barely affected, if anything it's just a bit better lol

let's keep these as references for the coming months to see if anything changes :)

Weird I get much lower ping than yours  89ms to bbc.co.uk and 95ms to google on average.

This is most likely because your connection to the central is better than mine in both the wire and distance. My area only supports 1mbit max and my line attenuation is high

Another reason why you will not be that affected with the unlimited downloads at night since everyone in your area is on a 1mbps which means it will be much harder to saturate the network bandwidth.

Another reason why you will not be that affected with the unlimited downloads at night since everyone in your area is on a 1mbps which means it will be much harder to saturate the network bandwidth.

Anyway as said, time will tell.

Outside of Beirut and the major metropolitan areas, you also have power cuts that will affect the network.  With my centraal (Khaldeh), I expect power to be cut at midnight 2 days a week (anywhere from 15 minutes to 6 hours) or more.  While not all areas lose power, the cuts in power act as a means of reducing the demands on bandwidth.  My download speeds at peak hours (4-6pm) are around 86 kB/s and during the 'unlimited' period are 98-105 kB/s.

I have a 1 meg connection from Ogero.

I called 1515 because I have exceeded the total usage by 31 GB ( downloaded 1 torrent file of 17GB and couple of android ROMs ). Still 6 days to go and I have a bad feeling about that as well...

I called 1515 and asked him about my real consumption, he said it was not possible to for him to know since they are dealing with problems related to database whatsoever... he said it should be deducted from the bill anyway but if it doesn't happen, my home number will have to start with 03 ...

Guys,i want to know this for sure ASAP and receive a confirmation from the users 100%.

    I am going to switch from sodetel to ogero !  enough is enough !!
    I dont want to break another joystick or even the ps3 just for the shitty internet.

    Here are my questions guys.
    1. During the day (i dont care during the night traffic)
        are the pings from ogero low? im gonna subscribe for the 2mbps package.
        so are they low ??

    2.I am with Fucketel now and as we all know,applying to another isp takes a month or so,
       so can i apply to ogero without having to unsubscribe from fucketel??? so that i dont have to stay internet-less for a month.
       so that when ogero finishes everything up, i stop from fucketel and start from ogero. is that possible guys??

    Please all of you who had alot of experiences on switching isp's tell us !
    Or anyone who has a confirmation that its possible or not!

    Or maybe can someone please try to call ogero and ask them about this ?!
    I would have called, but i am very busy with work at the moment, dont have many free unfatigued time.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but it might help you make a better decision:

1- As far as I know, applying to ogero now is a minimum 2-3 months wait.
2- I don't know about the rest, but in jounieh, since 3 weeks ago, ogero internet slows to a crawl between 7:30pm and 11:30pm. It is so bad that it takes 40 seconds to load a page.
3- During the rest of the day, ogero is constant. WOW ping is ~200-300ms (there is some server side lag which is unavoidable).
4- Regarding the free night quota, it was supposedly initiated on May  6, so no one has received the new bill yet to confirm if they are truly deducting the midnight quota from the total. The next bill is on June 15, we will know then.

Nope you need 2-3month of downtime between operators, and i beleive it is made on purpose to discourage jumping between isps.

If its only for gaming , check my post 3g gamer fix in the same forum

Guys, the "fatura" (the bill) isn't supposed to come out the 25 of each month ? we are the 29 and last time i check my ogero consumption i was at 200$ ( and that was last time, not now  ) so anyone received it ? or any of you are getting automatically debited into their bank account ?
i have more than a VERY bad feeling about this, if they can't find a way to make the difference between our 7am to midnight and our midnight to 7am consumption then i think they should just cancel any "extra" gigs.
