Sodetel here, suddenly pinging to EU servers is either timing out or 180ms (used to be a stable 60ms on all EU)
What is happening ?
there is a country wide problem I think. Used to get 55ms to EU west now getting in 120s with 30KB/s (from 1.1MB/s) download speed. Not an ogero sub but my ISP gets bandwidth by fiber from ogero.
You're right. My ping also jumped from 60ms to 110 now. Wierd cuz I asked my friend to check his ping, he was at 66ms. So strange
check how your pings will magically go down post 12 am
Submarine cable cut between Cyprus and Marseille at 6:56 UTC yesterday (18-Jan-2018) has degraded Internet service in Eastern Mediterranean countries.

This doesn't explain how my friend has 66ms to Luxemborg servers.
Thanks for the feedback Nuclearcat. Sadly, it seems we have to experience a submarine cable cut every winter.

Probably taking internet from an illegal source

Also I'm very curious, how does this cable keep getting cut. Isn't it super thick and deep? So it can't be boats that's for sure.

Na, he has Ogero. Oh well.
They are very vulnerable, about as thin as the thick bunched electrical cables running on power lines, not the single one, but the one that has them bunched up.
Sharks, anchors, salvage ships, american/russian spy work, earthquakes. Lots of things can cut the connection unfortunately.

Thanks for the explanation

Just a note, my ping to Luxembourg is back down to 67ms this morning.
It will go back up later today unless they fixed the cable

Peak times, the cable has been dead for 2 days and the ping goes down to 60 after 12 am and goes back up in the afternoon with a massive drop in speed. Unless they fixed the cable ofc

No backup cable ?
Hmm might be fixed

Nope, now its back to 110 ms.
Seems like after 6 pm the pings jump.
As expected internet went back to normal at 1am(give or take).
I tweeted Ogero about this and they said:
"Hello this high latency is due to international circumstances out of our control. Things got back to normal now."
When I ised to call my isp.. aka the cabke guy. He used to be like "it's the rain, it's out of control". Ogero blaming the rest of the world is next level. The bigger the isp, the more original the excuse gets.

Ummm, the submarine cable was cut, literally not ogero's fault
hmm, this is weird, ping spiked back up to 140 again

i'm disgusted by this ping, Lebanese gamers already have a disadvantage for high ping... this made it even higher
