  • Hi guys,

I am trying to find a way to immigrate outside Lebanon. I am a Computer and telecommunications(Masters of engineering) graduate with 2 years experience in the IT field ( IT Support).

I am trying to find a way to immigrate (since i can't find a fresh dollars job in the IT infrastructure field here, seems they are rare in Lebanon(contrarily to development jobs) .

What ways do you suggest to immigrate? I have uncles and aunts in the UK, Canada. But after my research i found they can't really help .

What alternative ways could work so i can move out with such a limited experience?

    Thanks
  • Hi guys,

I am thinking of taking the CCNA and MCSA or Azure Administrator Associate .
I have 1 year experience as IT support which didn't really involve cisco product troubleshooting nor complex windows server issues. Do you think i could take the certification exams? Or should i wait to have more experience to be able to pass? And how long do you think it would take for preparation?
  • Hi guys,

I am facing issues with my dsl using the Technicolor DWA100.
I need to change it and i want a dsl modem with a broadcom chipset to check if it can help. I don't really care about VDSL for the time being, nor for dual band or ac wireless , because it will serve just as a modem, i have a separate router ap .
Can you suggest a cheap adsl modem available in the lebanese market that uses broadcom chipset?

    Thanks
  • alcolopa wroteHello,

I would advise you to try Digitech, the local channels are there and unscrambled since forever!
Do you have any idea where are its antennas located in Metn or Beirut, or how should we point our dish to get its signal?

I don't know what's wrong with them. Their new receivers the Novel something is on sale on Aliexpress for $8 dollars.

National channels on Cablevision are in HD ( MTV, LBC and NTV )
The CV receiver really pisses me off---its menus are from the stone age and it is super slow to boot. If I am pointing the dish at Arabsat, I might as well get Bein straight from the source and not worry about a middleman. Also, Bein connect is helpful especially when the weather is bad like it has been.

If CV decided to upgrade their current lineup of receivers, then maybe stay with them, but like you said Kareem, they took a really cheap receivers and encrypted them and passed them on to customers without caring what customers thought of them. They are a monopoly after all, but still---people can point their dishes somewhere else. They should have figured that out.

Well my friend is paying $20 per year for a receiver connected to 3 dishes. He has literally 1000 channel and all encrypted channels even BeIN.

Problem is, uptime is like 90%....
Is he using some kind of cccam server ?
I thought these servers aren't opening bein anymore since 2 or 3 years .

Did you figure how to point the satellite dish to arabsat badr ? I mean what elevation, azimuth ... I tried the info found on the internet about badr but it didn't really help .
I am having a hard time getting a signal, not sure why .
  • Hi,

I currently have nilesat and hotbird , bit since the local channels stopped broadcasting over nilesat , i need a third satellite .

Which would you recommend : installing a dish to receive cablevision broadcast free channels( lbci, mtv, otv, al jadeed ... not the premium channels that need subscription obviously) , or should i go with arabsat badr satellite ?

Does a small dish work for arabsat (like i have for nilesat) or do i need a bigger dish ?
I know the local channels are now broadcasted in hd over badr and cablevision, but will i be able to pick these in sd quality on an old starsat m10 receiver(non hd) that i still have in a room or i will not be able to receive these at all without an hd receiver ?
  • I heard good things about hikvision and dahua ( lite series for low prices) .

You could find cameras in mazraa, bourj hammoud or check official resellers online to make sure what you buy is with warranty .
  • Hey guys,
Anyone using mobi dsl ? Is it stable ?

I am always checking my line stats when the speed drops, it is always normal, SNR and line attenuation don't drop , I don't think it is noise related . But anyway i'll try to increase the SNR margin .

Is it possible the modem quality is bad ? Anyone tried this particular model : TP-Link TD-W8961N V3 ?
I have been suffering alot as well. I changed the modem as well with no success. Even when I adjusted the SNR it was still dropping.

Eventually, it was a problem from Ogero, where they have adjusted the pairs that the line was connected to.
I'll try to ask ogero to check these, but unfortunately they are not very responsive .
  • Guys,
Which ISP would you recommend after Ogero?
I don't really care about gaming. I just need a stable connection but the private ISPs offers are better than ogero.
    Any suggestions?

  • Hi,

I am subscribed to an ogero open speed ADSL plan.
I had an issue a few months ago where my connection dropped frequently or slowed down extremely , at that time I was using the Ogero customized ADSL/VDSL Technicolor modem DWA0100 with my old wiring .
So 5 months ago I changed my modem to the TP-Link TD-W8961N V3 and wiring ( 3M cat6 UTP cable with LeGrand wall Socket) , that improved the connection but didn't fix the problem entirely. One month later, the connection improved a little bit magically by itself .

I am facing a similar issue again now: my internet slows down from effective 13 mbps to 0.1mbps periodically for a few minutes since 1 or 2 months .
Ogero's technician did a reset to the DSLAM port, it improved for a week or so but now the problem is back .
I don't notice any significant changement in the line stats when the problem occurs, so I don't think it is noise related .
    Here are my line stats:

    Downstream Upstream
    SNR Margin: 10.6 13.5 db
    Line Attenuation: 27.5 17.5 db
    Data Rate: 17245 1020 kbps
    Max Rate: 18828 1100 kbps
    POWER: 20.0 12.5 dbm
    CRC: 101 0

I updated the modem's firmware to the latest version and I put ADSL MODE ADSL2+ instead of Auto Sync Up to see if it helps, but the issue persists .
Here are interesting errors i found in the router logs:
    WANIPConnection->GetGenericPortMappingEntry failed
    Last errorlog repeat 1 Times
    netMakeChannDial: err=-3000 ...
Where do you think the issue is ? What do you suggest to try ? I seriously can't find the issue :(
  • Hello guys,

I am with ogero subscribed to the open speed 100 GB plan and getting speeds around 13mbps on adsl.

I saw packages of other ISPs . I liked Terranet and Mobi plans for example. I especially need the unlimited night traffic .
Which of the private ISPs would you recommend . Will i find an ISP as stable as ogero or at least close ? And which do you recommend . I previously heard IDM was the best but now their support is very bad .

Usually the distance to the CO is based on the road routing where the cables pass .
And considering the speed fluctuations with ogero it is very abnormal. It shouldn't fluctuate that much . It seems your line is not really clean, but it may also be because of your internal wiring if it is not good , cca or old low quality , may be a wall socket , an old modem or modem that needs to be updated . I'd recommend to check your internal wiring, if the speed still fluctuates that much you should contact ogero . Your ping is probably related to such issues .
My internal wiring is all new. The house has been renovated and we removed all of the old electrical cables and phone cable (as well as sanitary ofc) and installed new one. A new data cable is reaching the phone box at ground floor. The modem is new. I didn't finish my 1st month with Ogero yet.
It may also be EM interference on your wiring .
But anyway it would be a good idea to check with ogero if there is a problem on their side .

You line stats are not that good , but acceptable ( i mean not the 0.5 mbps some people are still suffering from) .

You are currently having 6.4 mbps which is around the maximum you can get on your line . The errors on your line are acceptable.

Anw, how far are you from the CO?
    Thanks man for your reply.

I live in Zouk Mosbeh so not sure how far I am from the CO which is located near the highway in Adonis. Is it direct distance (bird's fly) or the normal road routing where the cables are in?!

    Sometimes it's 3mbps which is half, sometimes 6 or 7 and sometimes it's 14 and 15mbps.
So i'm happy overall. I come from a cable 1 to 2mbps connection.

What annoys me is that I'm a PC gamer. The ping isn't great although they put me on the interleaving off and low ping mode.
In most games it hovers between 95 and 120ms with occasional spikes to a 1000 or more.
I expected much better than that honestly.
In other games, I can't join at all, like Battlefield 5. I can't play it on Ogero. I switch my 4g mobile hotspot and it works immediately. Weird stuff.

  • LifeEngineer wroteGuys I got Ogero very recently.
    Those are my values:

    Upstream Downstream
    Current Rate (kbps) 404 6400
    Max Rate (kbps) 418 7680
    SNR Margin (dB) 7.3 9.9
    Line Attenuation (dB) 36.7 24.3
    Errors (pkts) 89 504

    What does that mean?!

  • Hi,
I need to install 4 outdoor poe ip cameras ( i prefer dahua or hikvision) with a poe switch and a small nvr.

What resolution for the cameras do you recommend and which switch brand ?
And can you recommend where can i find the best prices ?
I don't need the installation, i can do it .
I onky need the components .
  • Hi guys,

Has anyone tried finders.co to buy something from amazon ?
What are your thoughts, is it better or should we stick with shop and ship and such services ?
  • anayman_k7 wrotePersonally I am using STP Cat7 which was unnecessary, a normal UTP would have done the job well
Note: using 1 pair only from the available 4 pairs
What brand are you using ?
    And is STP grounded ?
