  • Any new Megane Coupé owners here?

I wanted to buy the Citroen DS3 but because the new sales manager doesn't know how to treat its client (0$ reduced price) and they increase 1000$ every week!!!
Now I am checking the Renault Megane coupé CVT 140hp, the CVT automatique gear system is made in Japan by Nissan as well as perhaps half the engine...
I can get a better price than the DS3 120hp but I just want to know how good is this car in Lebanese roads?
No engine heating problems like on other French cars?
No mecanical problems encountered?
Yeah I know Japanese cars are the best in engines but as I have a new corolla it's boring as hell!!
German cars? What's the price of the smallest one with a +130hp engine in ''cherké'' ?
Buying second hand BMW,cooper or any others coming from US is like having 9 chances over 10 to have a f*cked up engine or a hurt chassis whatever carfax they claim
Did you check out the Seat Leon or Ibiza or the VW Golf or Polo (the polo is really cute and cheap in the low 20s) ? Those four can be considered german cars within your price range...
inno you probably know the deal with french and how "bad" they are, also they'll lose value pretty fast.
Golf is only 102hp!!!
As for the seat Leon and Ibiza they are pretty but boring and empty inside, my sis had a Leon and it was the worst car ever!
I know french cars are not the best in durability but I can say the same for ACTUAL bmw and mercedes!
All the European cars are badly made now, they all have gear and ''trombet may'' problems after 2 or 3 years...
Even my Japanese corolla 2009 has a strange benzin odor now when driving more than 30 mins, probably injections getting dirty!
As you said the only major problem is the resale after 5 years, but isn't the same problem for all european ''special'' cars like Fiat 500,mini cooper,Seat Leon and Opel Astra??
Because of the Euro/$ they are all overpriced and will loose half their price after a couple of years in second hand.
The advantage of megane coupé is that they are taking many parts from japanese Nissan ;)
hmm then buy a nissan :P A 370Z or a GT-R or an Altima Coupe wouldn't be that bad....

Oooooooooooooooooooo I got it! The Alfa Mito it looks really classy and is in the same price range as the other two (DS3 & megane) and it has a 1.4 L engine (think of the savings! )

(No, i said Oooooo which is different than Oh... Next time please edit my posts if there is something that's against the forum rules :) thanks! )
Since the topic has been brought up I'm looking for one as well :P. Preferably the 1997ish models since my uni tuition fees are already taking up most of my salary x)
Alfa Mito is overpriced here, if I remember well it begins at 40000$!!

Stay away from Renault......
5 days later
Seat CUPRA FR ..
seriously nothing works in lebanon except germans and japanese cars..we have roads built in hell !
the golf GTI is one hell of a ride as well and will keep its price
how about a cerrato coup ?
21 days later
I made a big visit to ''ma3ared'' from Jounieh to Jbeil and finishing in Dbayeh on the sea road...CRAP!
ALL of them have only 2 cars in my budget: mercedes clk 2004 and BMW 328!!!
-I don't like this mercedes because we get tired of it in Lebanon, it's a 7 years old car, and the engine is a mess with more than 150000km driven!
-I used to love the bmw series 3 but now we have seen too much of it in Lebanon too, I don't like it so much anymore, the newest one is 2006 328 so too old for my taste, km is also very high, the engine is too demanding in fuel...
No mini cooper s, no Audi, no Opel,no nothing!!
I personally don't like second hand cars from USA because they are 90% broken somewhere (engine and/or chassis).
I hoped to find an European or Lebanese good deal like 3 years ago when I found an opel Astra from the Lebanese agent with only 2 years old usage and still and warrenty for 18000$ instead of 27000$ brand new...
I guess I will have to buy the Megane Coupé after all, at least I know I am the first to drive it, I get 3 years warranty , its design is superb, the engine is powerfull enough while not needing 200$ of petrol every week ,and it's made in Europe :)

And it's MANUAL...
Don't you dare get it an automatic transmission one
The CVT tiptronic transmission is the same one as on the new Nissan Murano , it's made in JAPAN by Nissan for renault, don't forget they are the same group now ;)
The best car you can get ( pre-used cars) is the VW GOLF GTI MK5 ( 2006-->2009) with price range about 20,000$ for a nice and clean one with DSG transmission!! This car is a beast and it always keeps it price.
Yeah very nice look, close to megane coupe btw, but too expensive if new from cherke and no way to find used
They change their models every 2 years!
Aslan as I said, in the ''ma3ared'' you have only mercedes and bmw, the only way to find audi,vw,opel... is by ewaseet and elmazad, kinda lotery!
Why dont you check the company ( pre-used cars)!? But even if every 2 years!, you are driving a GTI! It is astonishingly fast.
I remember Top Gear testing a Renault Clio (some upgraded model) and they said it was one of the best cars they tested for that type of car (supermini).
What I am afraid of is paying 29000$ for a very cool car but when selling it...I will loose 15000$!!
That's the problem with all the cool European cars nowadays btw, mini cooper s,Fiat 500,Seat Leon,Golf...you buy them between 25000 and 45000$ and you lose up to 20000$ after 5 years.
Only the Toyotas lose a little
