Anyone knows how to make WhatsApp work on the iPhone?
I've tried 3G Unrestrictor and many other apps, but none of them work.
4peterkh4
You need a transparent proxy application, iPhone doesn't support transparent proxies
babum
If any proxy app works I'd recommend using autoproxy, which I find to work much better than proxydroid
Ahmad_k
Proxydroid is working 10000% all applications work also.
I tried facebook, twitter, weather, whatsapp

@Ahmad_k
Yes but I recommend you to only use this for whatsapp and ebuddy (facebook chat + msn + others) because applications consume a lot for the only 20 MB of WAP
@babum I didn't find autoproxy neither in the android market nor in blackmart. I first tried with asproxy (5$ - I got it from blackmart) but they found out that I got it from black market.. so I just searched for a free transparent proxy app in the market and I got proxydroid. With proxydroid when you start wap the application automatically activates the proxy, and that's great.

@4peterkh4, great work man everything works :D

@haidcar
thanks :)
actually i started research 2 months ago but it didn't work... I was like 90% there. I was using the (default) port 80.
Then I searched again today, I read in a forum that they were using port 8080 to make WAP work. I used it "by mistake" while I was copying the configuration of the APN used in the forum and adapting it to Alfa WAP... it worked. Then when I noticed it I tried with port 80 but it didn't work.
all luck ;)

using a proxy over wap, isnt the connection speed going to be agonizing?
babum
I found the autoproxy at the xda forums, mainly because proxydroid didn't work. glad its working for everyone.
just a question, the ip address is it from alfa or a public proxy?
4peterkh4
@babum @khalil13
this is the same proxy IP that alfa uses for wap configuration. it is not a different proxy operating over alfa's. I am just making alfa's proxy TRANSPARENT in the phone, which means that the applications get internet without knowing that they are under proxy

very glad to see this app works for you guys. actually it's an open source project and welcome to modify or extend it as you wish.

no chance to get a proxy tunneling app working on the iPhone?
Fernand
btw do push notifications work too?
babum
guys just a question/comment, Alfa's site says that prepaid wap service is free of charge, can anyone confirm this?
"With the WAP service from Alfa, access important information in the blink of an eye! Through WAP, you are able to receive information in real time and access services directly from your mobile phone. You can for instance, find out useful information about the latest on sports (movies, weather, latest news...), buy goods, play online or even chat with other people. The access to information over WAP-GPRS is free of charge for a 20MB consumption per month. "
GreenM
the access to information and not the service subscription
Fernand
Does Twitter consume a lot of MB? I mean can I use it on WAP?
GreenM
not really, unlike facebook which consumes about 300 KB
Fernand
can i use it on WAP, with a 20MB cap per month?
babum
it all depends on how much you use rather than on what. Though a 20 MB cap per month is kinda low for that, do you have wifi access? if so you could use both without photos, keeping it simple it could work.
