I did not understand what you are trying to say here. What I meant was that the quality of education here in Canada is similar or better than that of the AUB (which is hailed as #1 in Lebanon). Therefore, the syndicate should not be requiring a master's degree for someone studying in Canada.incinerator wroteTrue, and that's why we can handle one more year before joining the order and make something of ourselves.Xsever wroteSorry mnl kel ye3ni w with all due respect bas the education here is much better than Lebanon!
And with that surpass whatever bad education system we are attending.
CS Bachelor's and Lebanese syndicates

Guys, we should seriously think about this!! we need to have a syndicate for CS professionals in Lebanon.
if anyone have any plan to do it, I am the first one to support! :)

I agree, it would be great if there exists a syndicate for supporting IT professionals and developers who have attained a Masters level in CS or equivelant non engineering major. A masters level is important in my opinion in order to differentiate those who have attained a higher level of education in the field just like the syndicate of engineers does.isomorphism wroteGuys, we should seriously think about this!! we need to have a syndicate for CS professionals in Lebanon.

I support this idea and would be more than happy to act for it, It would be really great if we can start something and give like a proposal to the ministry of Education and that of Telecomunications maybe. Thanks.
How is a Masters degree graduate better than me as a developer?AymanFarhat wroteI agree, it would be great if there exists a syndicate for supporting IT professionals and developers who have attained a Masters level in CS or equivelant non engineering major. Thanks Ayman, if we have enough people supporting our cause, we need first to consult a lawyer to know the legal procedures to have a syndicate for IT/CS professionals in Lebanon.
Regarding your suggestion of having only people who have MS degrees, I think it would be unfair to some people!
Consider a fresh MS graduate with no professional experience who is 23-24 years old who can join the synidcate and someone with BS degree and 10 years of experience who can't join!
In my humble opinion, and as I can see on many syndicate-like organisations throughout the world (British Computer Society, Australian Computer Society, etc.) there are different types of membership, depending on the level and type of qualification and years of experience. We can learn a lot from them....
Thanks everyone who supports this cause, I believe it should matter to everyone of us in this forum to have a syndicate to represent them. and...
STOP TRYING TO GET CREDIT BY TRYING TO JOIN THE ENGINEERS SYNDICATE! WE ARE PROUD IT/CS PROFESSIONALS! :)

No one is better than the other! in our field there are a lot of subfields and no one is better than the others!Kassem wroteHow is a Masters degree graduate better than me as a developer?
as I mentioned in my previous post, many factors should be taken into consideration... we must all be eligible for membership, but maybe with different types (as most prestigious organisations do...).
My point is, you do not really need a Masters degree to get into a syndicate, especially not an IT one where you barely learn anything at college whether you have a BS or an MS. You basically start learning to program proficiently once you start working on actual projects (i.e: from experience).isomorphism wroteNo one is better than the other! in our field there are a lot of subfields and no one is better than the others!Kassem wroteHow is a Masters degree graduate better than me as a developer?

P.S: I'm going for a Masters degree this year. I was just trying to make a point. :)
I am going to study Masters next year probably, Masters shouldn't be the criterion for a syndicate, but I guess a BS (or technical TS) should be the minimum to apply for a full membership. or sufficient (5+) years of experience. just to give some value and reputation to the membership.
first we need a syndicate then we can argue about everything else :P
You are absolutely right! :Dbluewolf wrotefirst we need a syndicate then we can argue about everything else :P
I am not saying better, that's just a suggestion and that's how it is done in the syndicate of Engineers now, a BS in Engineering can't enter no matter how much is his/her experience. In my opinion experience is extremely important but so is a higher level of university or else why would people do Masters or Phd just for the fun of it? (I will open a new thread to discuss this topic)Kassem wroteHow is a Masters degree graduate better than me as a developer?AymanFarhat wroteI agree, it would be great if there exists a syndicate for supporting IT professionals and developers who have attained a Masters level in CS or equivelant non engineering major. I think that's an excellent idea, everyone could be satisfied this way.isomorphism wroteIn my humble opinion, and as I can see on many syndicate-like organisations throughout the world (British Computer Society, Australian Computer Society, etc.) there are different types of membership, depending on the level and type of qualification and years of experience. Btw I don't even have a bachelor degree yet and that's just my thought.
Exactly :)isomorphism wroteSTOP TRYING TO GET CREDIT BY TRYING TO JOIN THE ENGINEERS SYNDICATE! WE ARE PROUD IT/CS PROFESSIONALS! :)
Good news guys. LAU's CS and Engineering programs have now been accredited by ABET(Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) in the US., which is a HUGE deal! LAU now has the only ABET accredited CS program in Lebanon. Those interested in studying at LAU, take note of this :)
And what does that have to do with our topic of a lebanese syndicate for IT/CS professionals?johnnyhayek wroteGood news guys. More general knowledge, other than that, nothing.Kassem wroteHow is a Masters degree graduate better than me as a developer?AymanFarhat wroteI agree, it would be great if there exists a syndicate for supporting IT professionals and developers who have attained a Masters level in CS or equivelant non engineering major. Is that a recent change? I know dozens of engineers in the syndicate that do not have MS.AymanFarhat wroteI am not saying better, that's just a suggestion and that's how it is done in the syndicate of Engineers now, a BS in Engineering can't enter no matter how much is his/her experience.
Oh really? Well my father is an architect he told me once that in order for an engineer to enroll in the syndicate he should have attained a masters level.xterm wroteIs that a recent change? As long as you go to the Ministry of Education and gain its equivalence (in Arabic: بتعادلها), there won't be a problem in joining the syndicate.cynth wrotei have completed a bachelor degree in civil engineering at the University of Balamand and now im looking forward to proceed with the master degree in the University of Western Sydney, Australia.B ut im wondering if i can be a member in the order of engineers in lebanon after completing the Master from the University of Western Sydney.

It's always been a requirement to have a 5-year study to join the syndicate. At AUB, engineers study for 5 years to gain a BE and join the syndicate. As long as the term of study is 5 years (in the field of engineering, of course) after attaining the Lebanese Baccalaureate, and present the proper documents, you can join the syndicate for engineers.AymanFarhat wroteOh really? I am not aware of any BE program that requires five years to graduate (at AUB). Most of them are four-year programs that include two summer terms and an internship. At AUB, engineers study for 5 years to gain a BE and join the syndicate.

Dear all,
We actually now have an approved legal syndicate under the name of "نقابة العلوم المعلوماتية" with HQ in BDD!
Syndicate of Computer Sciences in Lebanon is official as of April 2018 (decree 76/1), with all approvals and legal paperwork finalized
They even recently started accepting applications via LibanPost
We all agree that it's about time to have a powerful syndicate... We deserve it...
