Ok, I'm paying now 35,000 L.B.P for 128kbps Ogero. That means by January we'll pay 35,000 for 1mbps !! Honestly, I'm disappointed! We were talking about 2 mbps for less than $20 !!

I am guessing they may drop some of the lower tiers and just bump you up. I can't see how a 512 connection is worth it these days.

Disclaimer--I am only speculating about this and have no facts to support this. Also I have a 512 Ogero connection right now, and it is not quite what I would want. :)

as they said they cant further enhance the internet speed before the fiber optic infrastructure is compleateed in 15 months from now.
the IMEWE only increased the the bandwidth the connects lebanon to the international grid, but the infrastructure that connects the cable to the local central hub and to the distribution hubs is old and based on copper wires which got limited capabilities. after the completion of the fiber optic network you can have the speeds that you always dreamed of 50+ mps given that lebanon got enough international bandwidth

Well i'm using Sodetel and i have yet to notice an increase in speed, so not sure what the minister is talking about :S.

So, there's no price drops, we're only going to use 10 out of 120 of the available capacity, and we don't know in which council of ministers' meeting the subject will be invoked...

The only good thing i can see is that the speed will be almost 4x faster by the end of september 2011 (Hopefully).

So that officially means that if you're with any ISP other than Ogero, and and haven't noticed improved speeds, then you've been ripped off by that ISP.
By the way, did he say that speed will increase 4 to 8 times and QUALITY will increase 18 times? Does he mean latency will be 18 times lower?

I'm not talking in a political way, but consider this:
The last 3 ministers, Bassil, Nahhas and Sahnawi are carefully selected.

Bassil drew the line of how the ministry should perform in the next 10 years, he fixed (or at least stood against) major corruptions in the ministry and prepared the sector for a major rehabilitation...

Nahhas (was a technical guy) was selected to actually rebuild the infrastructure of this sector (and he successfully did).

Sahnawi (a business guy with VERY VERY good relationships) is selected to bring investments to this sector. Everything technical is almost ready and few consultants are more than enough. Money and Investors is all we need now.

Again, don't turn it into a political discussion. Think of it the way i see it.
