Do you guys think the international bandwidth provided by IMEWE is enough on the long term? If not, is it possible to connect to an already active submarine cable or Lebanon will just have to wait for a future cable to be constructed?

Lebanon has a hell lot more money than that... you have no idea how much the lebanese government has in total... in the billions.

What I meant was technically is it possible to connect to an already active cable?

It shouldn't have to--the government can set up the framework which telecoms operate and then have private companies do the work. The government cannot and should not be responsible for every little thing that goes on in the country--if it is worried about revenues, it can institute some sort of telecom tax in addition to the TVA to help with revenues.

This is the job of the TRA--and this is what the government should push for. It is better for this country and sector long term.

Seems to me the ministers won't discuss the telecom issue today as well. If so, the media would have (especially media that concerns the political party of the minister) said something about it in the past two days. We will see tonight anyway

Guys I think this will take a min of 3 months to take effect,
remember when we were waiting for the DSL....

1. wait for the جلسة to occur
2. wait for our case to be في جدول الأعمال
3. wait for the minister to sign up the agreement that was held in الجلسة
4. wait لتنفيذ القرار
5. wait for the ISPs to start distributing what they took (extra bandwidth) or new service --> new modems !!
6. wait for the new modems to come from outside (no more modems !!)
7. sign up then wait 1 month for your turn to install your service at home

So if we got it in 3 months ... I think that would be Perfect !!

IF the ISPs took extra bandwidth, do you think they will distribute it directly ?
they should put a new plan/new prices (ISPs will now fight, who can afford best offer best price) new offers ( unlimited night traffic/ unlimited noon traffic...etc )
that will take time !!

with this extra bandwidth, they can...must offer new services ( IPTV ) for example, so you must have new modems !
