Now the waiting start's for Microsoft's and Sony's next move...The Wii U thingy was actually cute, I may surprise myself and get one who know, and I don't know what MS will do next, but I am more than comfortable in how Sony is doing things so I'll probably stick with them.
Question: they say the Wii U will sport a 1080p thingy, but will that only happen on mario/pokemon/zelda stuff or would it be also possible for bangs such as BF3 ???? anyone care to answer?

They havent said anything about that at all. They only showed that the Console is HD capable, but what games nobody knows yet. And I doubt games like BF3 will make it to to Wii U.
MegaCool
@Hamboza even the PS2 can output 1080p if it ran N64 graphics - also Nintendo wasn't clear about the GPU or even the Wii U official specs. Though, that bird with the traditional Japanese music demo looked mighty impressive if it was pulled off @ native 1080p.
After all, the resolution really depends on how heavy are the graphics in a certain game, and of course depends on the GPU raw power used in the console. Rumors are stating the Wii U is supposedly boasting ATI R700 (HD 48xx). By today's PC standard, it's pretty outdated, but at least it's 3 times more powerful than PS3's RSX. So it should pull 1080p easily with medium PC like settings.

1080p with medium PC settings on a console like Wii is good enough for me. I don't expect a GTX480 or GTX560 experience to be offered from any company, BUT I will NOT be supporting any new console if it doesn't provide ATLEAST native 1080p and by today's standards it's nothing much to ask.
@FLAKK, actually yes BF3 is coming to Wii U as teased by EA's CEO during N's conference in addition to many of EA's hardcore stuff. AND
This is some of the stuff that has been cicrling the net which seems somehow good enough:
-Size: Approximately 1.8 inches tall, 6.8 inches wide and 10.5 inches long.
-New Controller: The new controller incorporates a 6.2-inch, 16:9 touch screen and traditional button controls, including two analog Circle Pads. This combination removes the traditional barriers between games, players and the TV by creating a second window into the video game world. The rechargeable controller includes a Power button, Home button, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons. It includes a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, rumble feature, camera, a microphone, stereo speakers, a sensor strip and a stylus.
-Other Controls: Up to four Wii Remote™ (or Wii Remote Plus) controllers can be connected at once. The new console supports all Wii™ controllers and input devices, including the Nunchuk™ controller, Classic Controller™, Classic Controller Pro™ and Wii Balance Board™.
-Media: A single self-loading media bay will play 12-centimeter proprietary high-density optical discs for the new console, as well as 12-centimeter Wii optical discs.
-Video Output: Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. Compatible cables include HDMI, component, S-video and composite.
-Audio Output: Uses AV Multi Out connector. Six-channel PCM linear output through HDMI.
-Storage: The console will have internal flash memory, as well as the option to expand its memory using either an SD memory card or an external USB hard disk drive.
-CPU: IBM Power®-based multi-core microprocessor.
-Other: Four USB 2.0 connector slots are included. The new console is backward compatible with Wii games and Wii accessories.
(Taken from the Nintendo E3 2011 Press Release)
- Games announced: Smash Brothers, Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City, Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon Online, Darksiders II, Dirt, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Metro: Last Light, Tekken, Ninja Gaiden 3, FIFA 12, Madden 12, Driver, Lego City Stories
- Other facts: (GTTV interview with Reggie, thanks to hiero and others)
-The price point of the system will be competitive to the current prices of the PS3, 360 in terms of value
- The games shown for Wii U at the show were actually PS3 and 360 versions but the Wii U will look the same or better
-No BluRay Support
-Controller's screen is single-touch
-Backwards compatible with the Wii's Games, but no upscaling is done
- Nintendo Online system to be announced by the end of the week

Thats some good info, glad all these games coming out for the system.
But Im wondering why is Nintendo planning to compete with Sony and Microsoft right now with their current hardware ? Shouldn't they have done this 4 or 5 years ago? I know the original Wii was very successful and the sales were very high.
The Wii U capabilities are similar to the PS3 or 360, so basically Sony and Microsoft have nothing to worry about and are not obliged to rush in to make a new console for next year which is good for most console users but for PC Gamers this will not push the boundaries in terms of graphical advancements.
The only innovative thing is the new controller.
When I first heard about the announcement I thought that Nintendo was planning on releasing a Console that is much more powerful than the current gen thus starting the Next Gen console war (8th Gen) where Microsoft and Sony will rush to release their consoles to compete with Nintendo.
But I guess its not the case anymore like the previous generations.
So IMO the market is stable as it is and graphically the consoles are still very capable but i was expecting much more of Nintendo, only time will tell what they are hiding when they reveal the full console next year.

Okay, here's another idea to think about,
Did you notice how the Wii U controller and the PS Vita are similar, before you attack with difference responses let me explain some more. They both have the same buttons, dual analog, screens, cams, wifi, etc...
The idea behind this is that What if, Sony would just introduce a Major Update for its PS Vita, and just make it do the same stuff the Wii U is capable of hence making the whole Wii U pointless to buy; and keep in mind that the PS Vita's hardware is more than capable of pulling this off....
what do you think?

Yes good thinking, never thought of that.
There would be a big possibility that Sony would do that, just a matter of time now.
Looks like none of these companies are ready to a real Next gen console yet.

Exactly what i thought! They can simply connect the psvita to the ps3 and you can even play without the ps3

@rami: Flakk answered why.
E3 is over for this year and it was filled with new announcements regarding some new hardware. Also some cool gimmicks, think about the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier kinect demo. As last year, i hope next year we will be able to watch E3 with no quotas or low quality bandwidth, i am not going to say faster but at least better quality.
OK, admin and mods i think this case is closed as it is only an occasional thread. See you all in E3 2012.
EDIT: Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011 attendees reached almost 47000.
