jadf24 wroteI recently bought a new laptop. Recently, I have been noticing that the life of the battery is decreasing. When i unplug it lasts for a maximum of 1 - 2 hours. When i first bought it it lasted for about 3 - 4 hours. Is there any advice anyone may have on how to use my laptop? how many hours to charge it ? use the laptop only when it is unplugged ? i searched a bit on the internet but nothing conclusive or concrete ! thanks
P.S. it is an HP dv7 laptop
HP laptops are very known for poor battery life.
the thing you can try is , drain the battery as much as you can .... bt don't let it die!
after you drained it put it in a plastic bag and seal it very good and tight, now place the batteri in the freezer and let it sit there for a day or two , and then remove it and let it get to room temperature. now put it back into your laptop and let it fully charge(DONT TURN IT ON) when its full ,turn the laptop on without the adapter and let the battery drain again, once its drained again recharge it and drain it again. and keep doing this until you notice a difference . after you fix the battery always use the battery when the charge is full and when windows tells you to replug it , replug it imidiatly so that the battery is always in use , because if you dnt use a certain amount of your battery that part will slowly die and eventually your battery will only last about 20 - 45 min MAX!.
so always remember to use your battery when its charged and use the whle battery never leave a small ammount always filled.
Good Luck !
