Well couple of days ago I was in Chouf and saw on my iPhone: MTN, LBN Ogero Mobile and Vodafone (Vodafone was followed by two letters which I can't remember). Thought the iPhone has a quiet good coverage because it was made to operate in bigger Countries like USA, France, United Kingdom, UAE, Germany and more major countries.
I picked up 3.5G signal in Zouk today. well guess you can pick it up wherever you are, whats next? I can see well that it's faster than 2G when I check my balance (*220#) or send a text message.

I guess this probably means you're one of the lucky 4,000 testers then .. congratz! :P

I can find MTC's 3G signal almost anywhere in Saida now.. but Alfa still 2G :/

4,000 testers (25% of which are students)

testing trial is supposed to begin September and last for a month(which is weird since some people are reporting that they are getting the 3G signals on their phones(like hamzewassim)

oh well.. guess we'll get a better picture of what's going on in September
When forcing UMTS only on a Nokia phone, I am able to get a 3G signal on MTC (I have no Alfa users at home, will report back after I test it). As GreenM did, I tested *220# and it's blazing fast.
This does not mean that we are one of the lucky users, I believe this is the testing period and anyone can have access to 3G (without data access). Alfa might not be doing the same - that is allowing anyone to use 3G at the moment.
Note that I was also able to make a call.
yeah a voice call. how about a video call?
GreenM wroteyeah a voice call. how about a video call?
I am getting an error almost immediately after trying a video call. Did it work for you?
Thanks for the quick reply boys.
I tried operating UMTS on a nokia phone but unfortunately no signal but when trying to make a call it took a while without any success. Couple of months ago I tried to make a call when operating UMTS but the phone got a "no network coverage". Thought the 3G service is availble.
m.sabra wrotewell there is no real 4G networks yet,the most close networks to 4G are the LTE and HSPA+ the CDMA working phones are advertised as 4G phones (like the 4G version of a phone usually use CDMA) and the true 4G must have the minimum requirements that you have mentioned according to IMT-Advanced, i thought Avok meant the 4G advertised phones, because real 4G networks does not exist yet.
Look mate they are trying to hide their incapacity of operating with 4G(or they can't afford it) by saying that 3.9g is the same as 4G which is something totally false...

This report is apparently false since the M.O.T restated that it would be 4,000 testers(and not 400).
well i tried and tried and never got a signal, have anyone noticed that only nokia phones are getting signal ?(correct me if am wrong)i tried to switch to WCDMA (UMTS) mode only by entering this in the dialer *#*#4636#*#* and after a manual search i found nothing.
True, my iPhone doesn't catch the 3G signal.
I am an MTC user. When I searched the network for an operator, MTC, alpha, and OM popped out. Only alpha was in 3G. I tried that in the Mathaf area (Beirut).
