  • Demonstrating for Faster Internet in Lebanon

Now that's more like it. I wish i could attend, but the date is just impossible for me.
I'll try. Hope I won't be the only one!
awesome!!! :D
but why does it have to be a thursday, when I have all my major course classes to attend :(
also Tripoli... 90+KMs away from Saida :(
sorry guys, it's tough for me :/
I would go if it wasn't on a thursday.
April 17 is a Sunday. It's March 17 that is a Thursday.
There is an effort to make it in Beirut-jnah rather than Tripoli .
Love this, ill try my best. Finally a little cooperation with Lebanese internet...but i dont know where this is exactly. In tripoli but where;please point out specific directions and if you can describe where near it is that will be great thank you
Jad the reason it's in Tripoli is because the IMEWE Cable trunk is there.
i know, but we would make a bigger bang in front of ogero .

ahh sorry, my head must have been somewhere else than I read it lol
I hope allot of people will go. As for me, the distance is what's keeping me from going such a distance : |
Action will result in Action!
it will definitely not be in Tripol.
I personally think Tripoli is not a good choice. The politicians are here in Beirut after all.
It is officially on other news now:

Call for demonstrations on April 17 for the right of Lebanese to a fast Internet

The Internet community is mobilizing Lebanese to relay the call site Blogging Beirut to protest on April 17 for the right of access of Lebanese fast connections.

The appointment is given at 10:00 in Tripoli before the access point of the international cable IMEWE.

The organizers complain that the commissioning of the new cable announced last December has still not resulted in an increased connection speed due to "conflicts politicians."
"We are the owners of this cable funded by our taxes, we must show to benefit", we read in the text of the petition.

The telecommunications industry is paralyzed by the conflict between the outgoing Minister of the director Charbel Nahas Abdel Menem Ogero Youssef.

Now, let's see it thing hits other news sources (hopefully TV) to see if this act can get more legs and publicity.
Can you guys keep us updated as for the location? because Tripoli doesn't seem too logical being too far away from most of us. And let's hope something good will come out of this demonstration.
Definitely going, even if its the most important day in my life. But why Tripoli? It's not because its far from Beirut and whatnot, but the capital city seems like a much more suitable area, you know head of Ogero, politicians residence. etc.

But the biggest question is, would they give a sh%# about us? Still think its better than doing nothing about it, and instead as usual keep whining and ranting.
Yea.. same as MegaCool... share media articles on your fb guys, we're gonna need every bit of exposure!
Make sure you join this group if you want to be part of the movement and stay updated.
