I am not familiar with the Echosat V3000, but here are some steps you can take before getting another receiver. First, you need to find a program called a loader for your receiver. This will allow you to enter keys either manually or through the internet (I am assuming this has a cat-5 connection). If you don't have a USB slot, you can usually upload the software via an RS-232 cable in the back. If this is successful, you should be able to purchase a dongle, get keys through a cardsharing site or even manually enter keys through your remote.

If those aren't options, do a search for dreambox on here and you will find the name of a reseller. Even with the receiver, you are still going to find a cardsharing site.

As for cablevision, it doesn't have all of the JSC channels
Echosat V3000 does have a USB port at the back that I used for updating its software and I even managed to get to a hidden CAS key editor menu inside it. It used to work with an RS-232 dongle that takes an ethernet input on its other side.

I've been trying to get some softcam keys from around the web and putting them in a .key file and load it through the USB but the channels are still scrambled. Do you think getting any dongle will just work? The guy I bought it from said the dongle for this receiver is no longer being sold and he wants to rip me off and make me buy another receiver.

I'll send you a PM regarding something.
For the price/time you are investing, subscribe with cablevision.
and for the rest of the channels, can't you get a seperate Dish/subscription?
Well I am only interested in Jazeera and Abou Dhabi sports.

As for watching movies and programs, they are really the last thing on my mind.

Since econet and cablevision do not provide the full jazeera package, it's not worth it to invest in them I think.

Does anyone know where to get an HD receiver and if the local cable guy would install it?

I have a Dreambox 800 HD clone from china and a subscription from Tunisia for 70$ a year from their servers and i have all the chanels that you can think of .. but not OSN for the time being..

So over all expenses including subscription is 200$..

Reviving an old topic (again)

The case is a bit similar to WizaRd's: I purchased a StarSat digital receiver SR-7000HD (without the StarSat tag - no idea why!) less than a year ago and got to watch locked channels except for the OSN package, for free for couple of months before interruptions started to occur occasionally until it totally stopped working like 1 month ago.

I've been to the shop where I purchased the receiver where the guy denied he even sold such receivers! then proposed selling me a new receiver! total BS as WizaRd put it right.

Now, I looked around the net for updates/upgrades available for SR-7000HD and only got some (*.bin) file for a receiver with the same name on a tunisian forum... downloaded the stuff and plugged the USB in the receiver. It would only read a (*.abs) file.

Any idea where to go from here? Where can I get the proper update file? A small tutorial for the operation would be much appreciated too.

Thanks in advance for your help.
I have the same problem
Hope someone could help us

there is no StarSat tag, because it is a replica and not original.
all receivers which use internet to unlock channels become with a server subscription valid for one year, then if you are lucky it will continue for some months.
if you are addicted to Jazeera Sports (like me), you can search for free "newcamd" servers and feed them to the receiver.
Thank you for the prompt response amkahal.

Is it something I can do by myself or do I need a technician for that?

Further details would be much appreciated.
... and are these servers receiver specific? or would anything work for any receiver?

you are welcome :)

here are the instructions in general, because i didnt try on the sr-7000hd:

- look for how to add a server on your stb.
- go to newcamd.info and get server credentials and info
- enter them to the stb with a working internet connection

note: you have to try and try for a working server, you should be patient :). personally, i apply this trick only when i want to watch an important match on JSC.
