xterm wroteOn a slightly similar note, does anyone know where I could find Lego mindstorm in lebanon?
As a matter of fact, maybe. There's a center that teaches NXT Robotics programming for kids called "The Little Engineer" and is run by Rana Shmaitilli. In addition to the robotics courses, she was thinking of becoming the local distributor of the Lego Mindstorm robotic kits in the middle east.If you want her number, I'll PM it to you.
Xterm ! NO ! Get an arduino and learn some real robotics/electronics.

Actually, he can program the Lego Mindstorm with ROBOTC (it's C-based and unlike NXT, gives you a broader choice of commands to manipulate the robot). Furthermore, the Lego Mindstorm is an excellent way to get baby Raúl interested in programming (of course when he's 7 or 8) and it is much easier to start with NXT blocks then move to ROBOTC. In the end, Raúl just might like programming so much that he'll start looking for another language to learn: this is where Arduino comes in.

Bottom line: Yes, Lego Mindstorm is an excellent choice.
It is an excellent choice for retards who just want to make something move without bothering a brain cell ! If you want to program it using C just jump over to Arduino from the start. Their is no point in getting lego mindstormes if have your mind set previously at programming it using C.

Lego Mindstorms = Toy
Arduino = very broad hobby robotics. and with your programming skills ya Xterm, you will be doing wonders in no time. Heck I'd make you an Arduino just so you dont buy the stupid mindstorms ! I've got a batch coming out of the oven soon.
Oy I'm preparing for my little kid!

I care not for electronics!

I'm extremely interested!
@J4D, I want an Arduino board! When will they get out of the oven? :P

No you don't! Stick to one thing only (programming!!). Stick to ASP.NET MVC!

PM me, we can coordinate. I produce an Arduino clone here in lebanon.
