Weird Suggestion But We're Desperate Anyway...

Hi guys,

Ok I know how frustrated you are with the current internet situation just like I am. Today I asked my mum to go to Ogero and upgrade my internet connection to a 1Mbps connection. I thought it costs $60 per month - I do not know why I thought that. So she called me from there telling me it costs $76 per month so I told her not to upgrade because it ain't worth it.

The thing that pissed me off the most is that the employees at Ogero's office were "shocked" that someone needs more than 4GB per month. And they kept telling my mum that no residential user should consume more than 2-3GB per month.

So, rather than ranting about it, I have a suggestion for you guys... A suggestion to bother Ogero a little bit in return to how they've treated us so far. How about you keep bombarding them with emails and phone calls nagging about how shitty the connection is and that it's the slowest internet in the world (proved by speedtest.net) and asking them for more quota and lower prices.

And in case you think I'm just nagging and joking around, no I'm not! I am dead serious about it, and I think we should ask more people to help us out. We could even take it further and threaten them to stop using their internet and revert back to the good old "illegal local guy".

@Admin: Please do not delete this thread. This is a serious initiative. They have the infrastructure almost ready, they should at least give us double the speed and quota. Maybe this will help speed things up.

Lets create our own network and share large files we need with each other, this way we can share the quota consumption across each other, screw the government, if they wont give us our rights lets claim them on our own! I think this would still be costly though...

EDIT: Even if we wont implement it, lets put a detailed technical plan and let the government now about it, maybe this way they can be threatened, or we just end up in jail :P

it's kind of desperate but I WOULD LOVE TO DO IT :) it won't be a harm to bother them with a couple of phone calls they bothered us with their negligence for years ! i can get my ogero friends to do it since i'm not an ogero customer

Even if you're not an Ogero customer, go for it anyway! Send them emails and call them whenever you're bored and want to chill.

for years i have been wondering as to why meshpots have not bloomed in the lebanese networks.
but then again with the exchange point being 2mb wifi based between isps, then no wonder. the
wifi stations will be jammed with traffic..

I guess hacking their website and putting a banner and explanation text would get enough media attention.

Thing is, we dont care who or what company is giving us internet (ok, we all hate ogero, but bottom line we need good internet goddamnit!!).

So I guess our best bet would be - and since its a bit far fetched to think we can really affect their income (i.e. how many people in lebanon do u really think would/could stop using the internet for a while) - to get media attention to the problem, which in turn would probably get some ministers to get off their fat asses and "answer the call" or something....
