That's going to be illegal once the new driving and road traffic management law gets approved. Be careful.

Last time I checked the phone and car directory were illegal since day 1, but thanks to our government's "high security" on these "private" files and cracking down on those who distributed them, I'm sure no one would considering distributing them ;)

:)

hey wait a minute!?!? :O
It probably wasn't illegal because there was no explicit law that says so. Maybe those who distributed the data would've been punished but not end-users.

Nobody knows.
There is an MDB database you may be able to get your hands on, it's a bit old but it contains this data and can be read offline.

It can be still illegal despite the absence of any laws since it's distribution violates the individual's rights of privacy and thus it can be considered a crime and a tort. Damn that law course is beneficial... :P

Is distributing it illegal, or is it just stealing it that's illegal? For example, if A stole the data and made it public, then B, C, and D started to distribute it. A is definitely doing something illegal, but are B, C, and D liable also?

I don't know anything about the law :D
Actually, distributing it is illegal but using it is not. On the other hand, those who are using it to create proprietary software and making money off of it are definitely breaking the copyright law. The data is the property of the Lebanese government; the "Nef3a" put a lot of time and effort in collecting the data, therefore no one can claim ownership of the data and (ab)use it to make money.
You are right guys the user is considered a third party and not considered liable until he uses that information for malicious purposes such as researching and setting up a conspiracy for committing a crime such as stealing. In other laws, having the app on your mobile can be illegal even if you're not using it since that information you have access to is not yours in the 1st place. It just depends on the country.
Guys, we have discussed this before.
