Honestly, no it wouldn't. I do not want to pollute Visual Studio with PHP support. I understand where you're coming from, but PHP is not in any way an inhabitant of the Microsoft environment. There would probably be dozens if not hundreds more suitable applications for PHP.al_jamal wroteVisual Studio is really the best IDE
using it since 2002, would be awesome if the build in PHP support
Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Coming Soon!

I rather doubt it. It's obvious that there will be a major change when browsers with html5 support get more widely use, but will Silverlight really go away?Zusynoid-x wroteits guna die off ... soon ... EPICALLY ...
You probably already know this or maybe you don't, but Silverlight used to be called WPF/E, which means WPF Everywhere. Given that Microsoft has shifted its efforts entirely to WPF, any developer with WPF knowledge will subsequently have covered over 80% of the knowledge he would need for building Silverlight applications. It's quite similar in a way to how Flex works for Adobe with Adobe Air.
Ultimately i foresee something happening, something extravagant that might change the entire aspect of the web in all technologies. If you are familiar to how GWT works, you'd probably understand what I mean.
Flash/Flex and Silverlight would ultimately become developer platforms that allow the developer to build rich and interactive web front-ends with their favorite technologies and compile into html5(js).
There's already several technologies that are "similar" to GWT but just don't quite cut it. Script# being an example for .NET Developers.
Edit: HTML has a weak specification, even with html5 it doesn't provide nearly enough flexibility with a minimal amount of effort to achieve a certain "complex" functionality. JQuery Templates fix part of the problem.
Oh yes, sorry.xterm wroteYou missed the "SP1" word in the subject.
Indeed, Zusynoid-x, please take a look at Adobe's CS5 Suite... And compare the prices. :Dxterm wroteYou make it sound as Microsoft is the only company that charges for products.Zusynoid-x wrotewait WHAT ?

OH! right ... Microsoft ...
corporations ... what more can i say
xterm, i can see that apparently you are an IN-DEEP microsoft guy
yea i know about WPF/E ... because i used it
and i KNOW silverlight will die off ... BECAUSE am using it ... and i know business applications because it is my job to know them
anyway, this argument has nothing to do with the thread :) but either way time will tell
ps xterm , everyone can act pretentious anytime they want :P

No, I'm just not biased to a certain company, technology or platform and i never follow the herd. I make my own assumptions based on my daily research. When Microsoft does something bad, I'll be the first to say it, though with my experience in several developer tools, IDEs, text editor and the lot, i can safely say that VS exceeds any environment out there (I'm being pretentious now).Zusynoid-x wrotecorporations ... what more can i say

The fact that it complements WPF through providing a web aspect of the technology and its extreme usage in media centric websites is enough for me to know that it will remain alive. Probably not boost, but definitely not die.
That is your prerogative :-)ps xterm , everyone can act pretentious anytime they want :P
I'm not here to convince you, I'm just stating what i know. If you find that I erred in anything, by all means, correct me. (Somewhat related, you might want to read my signature)
what do you know ... yet another pretentious reply :P
