Wing Commander... haha!
@Padre hehe thanks man

Amazed by all your testimonies guys, so majority of PC gamers I guess.

On PC Dune 2 (and the extraordinary Dune 1 by Cryo, deserve to be played just for the soundtrack) remain among my favorite games. super memories...

more recently, RTS Shogun total war was really good IMHO

nice to read about all those classics, as gobliins etc. Syndicate was awesome too.

Cheers,

Most of us gamers start playing video games at the age of 4 or 5, only those FPS wanna-bes dont know the classics.

Exactly.
Anybody here played 1997's MDK? That is one of the very, very best games I have every played.

Descent of course... I still play Descent 3 today. I remember back when I got it, my computer was not powerful enough to handle it!
It's crazy how no games similar to Descent are being made today, with six degrees of freedom. The last one I remember was Forsaken and that was ten years ago.

By the way, you may be interested to know that a group of fans is remaking Descent with the Doom 3 engine!

I didn't play Hexen but I played the first one, Heretic, and the last one, Heretic II. Hexen was in between.

I played all the Dark Forces games - the first one, then Jedi Knight, then Jedi Outcast which yes, I still play today. (can't get enough of those lightsaber duels.)
Sadly, Jedi Academy was console only.
I had no idea. I'll have to get it somehow :)
Supaplex anyone? :)
lance5277 wroteHi all,

Was wondering if any of you also enjoyed collecting and playing with old school gaming systems. I still have my NES, 3do (goldstar), dreamcast ...

Would gladly swap games and buy systems - currently looking for a panasonic 3do in particular.

Also, leads on shops in lebanon that still have old stock are welcome. For example, in Hamra "Al Ajou trading" on the de prague street still has tons of wrapped SNES/Megacd/N64 games. There is also a nice place at the beginning of gemmayze with boxed megadrives and other systems.

Cheers,
lance
Where exactly in gemmayze? I went there yesterday and couldn't find it?
Also if you have his number?

Or people that weren't even born at the time.

I played Moto Racer 1, 2, 3. Did you ever notice the UFO in the desert track in 1?
I don't remember if it was 2, or 3, that allowed to design your own track, but that was a great feature and I wish more games have it.

Carmageddon was loads of fun. I also enjoyed Twisted Metal, but Carmageddon was even more fun, and the driving physics and damage modeling were amazing for a game that old.

Outlaws, dozens of hours in "network" stores, shooting at each other.
I think most kids in Lebanon didn't enjoy the single-player side of Outlaws. Great story, the cartoons, and of course the music which I keep in my collection. One of the best game soundtracks ever. I mean just watch this... *goosebumps*

Leisure Suit Larry 7 was amaaaazing :D I just had to cheat through the casino games.
The quality of jokes and wit in that game (not to mention the art) was quite high.
Did you use the Easter eggs that let you see the female characters naked?
"Tickle your ass with a feather?
- What did you say??!
- I said, particularly nasty weather."
If you want me as a gamer check this guy's blog on gamespot.com. Specifically here:

I'm one of those "hardcore gamers". Y'know, the people who actually know the storyline to the Metal Gear series and hated the latest Final Fantasy game. Yeah, I play games from 1980 still because of the story. I'm one of "those" people.
Except i started gaming at the age of 6; passionately :P.
I finished Metal Gear Solid 1 on the PSX over 10 times. In one of the times I made a record of beating the whole game in a maraton, did not even save my progress until the game ended. (luckily electricity did not go off while playing).

I played a lot of old graphical adventures, I do not really recall everything to list. I think I played 90% of these:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_graphic_adventure_games

But I remember some are very disturbing (ie phantasmagoria a puzzle of flesh) and some are pretty nice like the Myst series.

the most notable series are of course:
Gobliiins
Discworld
Monkey Island
Borken Sword.

Wish they would continue Discworld some day....
I used to play a bunch of European developed RPGS that used to be bundled with french magazines.

Stuff like Darkseed, Darkseed 2, Prisoner of Ice, etc.
I looked up yesterday and could not find it myself! it might have closed, it used to be at the very beginning of Gemmayze, but not on the main street, it was on a perpendicular street coming from the port to gemmayze.

@ Flakk, you mentioned that you had a megadrive and a sega cd, are you interested in letting it go? :)

No sorry :)

Hi gianluigi,

I actually still play Company of Heroes from time to time this can be found in any place that sells computer games the one i own is an original for online play.
Company of Heroes is a strategy game with tactical elements just so that others don't get confused and its the best strategy game i rate to date.
Commandos i think i still have it somewhere but i think your gonna suffer in making it run properly on new operating systems, there might be a work around for that not sure, but by default it runs on steroids.
