I have this HP Laptop Pavillion 6000s series and it's been turning off out of the blue for the past few days.
The laptop is always plugged into the wall since its kinda stationary now and the battery inside it is pretty weak. I ran the HP battery check and it needs to be replaced since its capacity is close to non-existent, making the operating system always listing it as 'charging'.
My concern however is the fact that the laptop turns off suddenly when plugged in and with battery inside. I've ran it a whole night plugged in without the battery and it looked fine. I'll try to keep this setup for the next couple days to see how it will work.
Can a defective battery be the cause of this turn off even though in theory, the laptop should be using the AC input to function?
These HP laptops are constantly hot so its no point trying to detect an overheating problem since you can't tell the overheating from normal temperature condition. One thing to note is that the turn offs happen really randomly and the only applications that are being used are some browser games and random office documents.
