I did not get you wron that is what I was saying all along , still till bow MacBook pro seems like the best all arounder

Did you check out Dell's new XPS line of laptops?.. Interesting...
I don't know if they will be sold here though
mezin
actually i live in montreal so i can get them ... seems very reasonable probably the best choice for a laptop other than mac and minus the huge price tag ... i decided to go for a non laptop imac in the end , made more sense to me ... i'm just wondering if i should upgrade CPU from i3 to i5 or to upgrade the graphics card from radeon 5670 to 5700 on the 27" imac !
becharab
the 5770 offers a great bang for the buck IMHO
As for the CPU, go for the i5.. the i3 does not feature TurboBoost which is imporves performance for non-threaded applications (eg. games)

yea that's the problem i can only pick one of the upgrades :)
becharab
oops :S yeah I know the feeling...

ahhhh how nice it is to live in a country where you have 10 times the choices at 25% less cost... all delivered to your doorstep! :))
I had my relatives buy my Dell from Florida @ $1540... In Lebanon, a similar config would have cost me north of $2,500! :S

Well, after the battery of my macbook swoll and expanded to the point where it does not fit correctly in it's compartment, and I changed it less then 2 years ago, and after a charger replacement - each with an exorbitant price, and the screen casing cracking after a fall from about 1m height, and the keyboard loosing 4 keys after some drops of water fell on it, I have to say, I'm done with MacBooks. Their quality is very deceiving. My next laptop will be a big, sturdy, and cheap PC laptop.

@rolf: the macbook is a laptop, not a tank. I have an HP laptop, also fell from 1meter, screen casing also cracked. Of course water will ruin your keyboard, and any keyboard that drinks water will die (DOH! :) ). I am a pc and mac user; mac wins hands down when it comes to portability.

Mine split right open. Did it happen to you too?

for my laptop, the left hinge just broke off. 0.75 inch of steel (hinge width) just broke off. the laptop screen is hanging from the right hinge only

Wow, it's not so bad here, the casing is cracked open, the screen is wobbly, and the display flickers when adjusting the angle, but the hinges are still there.
