mesa177 wroteJad, safety is a must. Build a tesla coil if you want but no flame throwers, I mean seriously what arena are we going to use? Is it going to have a bat's cage around? I think not, so no flame throwers.
No, one with surrounded by ultra-thick armored glass :-)
The thing is, I don't want to stifle creativity and freedom to try out new things.
rahmu wroteI'm sorry to be negative about it, but I am convinced this project will never go through. Let's face it Jad, mesa, we don't have enough talent (as in persons) to do this. Two robotic guys is not enough for a competition. As far as programming is concerned, I only know of Ayman who has experience in Robotics. I'm a web developer after all.
Here's what I propose instead. We could work together on a single robot. I don't have the time nor the skills to be a lead developer on the project, but I would be glad to be part of a team of programmers.
Finally, as far as safety is concerned, let's stick to Alaa's restrictions, as they define a perfectly viable environment.
The thing that bothers me is that there are 2 contestants. It makes it seem like a duel.
If you think there is not enough talent, I propose we relax the requirements, and start with simpler robots, then hopefully we will all progress towards more complex robots.
If you want us all to build a single robot, we should then plan on entering it in an international competition - right? Participating in a competition was the main idea I think.
Regarding the skills, anyone can help, I think.
Padre wroteRacing, Maze, Sumo etc ... are all good ideas, but why not smth a bit different ? for example robots that build something.
I like that too. How about robots that search for an object?
