samer Mr. iPhone wroteLebanese carriers Alfa and MTC are way behind ... Old networks with no willingness to update in the near future. Trying to find a workaround if possible ... Mr. iPhone, welcome to LebGeeks. You may want to provide more information about what you tried, what is working and what is not. Simply complaining about carriers benefits no one.
mr-iphone Facetime is wifi based but it seems that it has to be registered first with the carrier before being able to use it, something Alfa nor MTC is aware of. I tried all possible solutions available on the web with no success.
mr-iphone I went to Alfa and tried to make MMS work at least but the technical lady (whom is a high ranked employee) told me that their network is very old with no plans to update in the near future. What I'm trying to look for is a way to make Facetime or MMS work bypassing the network limitations specially that Facetime is (as said before) wifi based
samer cnicolaou wroteSamer? did you try Facetime with your new iphone 4? I just tried it now. When I enable it, it says "Waiting for activation…" and stays like that. Mr. iPhone, are you having the same problem?
mr-iphone I just found this solution which costs $ 5.99! http://mitime.info/ Please let me know if it works for you

wollyka Preview: http://www.redmondpie.com/activate-fix-facetime-on-unlocked-iphone-4-on-unofficial-carrier-t-mobile-using-mitime/ it should work.
ck-1116 you might want to wait a couple of days before spending 6$ on activation because it was rumored that they're going to allow email activation for facetime on the soon to be revealed ipod touch 4th gen ( sept. 1st) just wait and see.
azife Because tomorrow Apple has a press conference for the iPods and it's rumored that the iPod touch will be FaceTime enabled.
mr-iphone Hey guys, Steve Jobs just introduced Facetime for the iPod Touch few minutes ago ... I think this is great news for iPhone 4 users as there must be a way now to initiate a video conversation without making a phone call :) ...
EddieEC Here's what weird Mr. iPhone. If we get the iPod Touch 4 in Lebanon, we won't have issues using Facetime with it. Meaning: iOS 4.1 we will be able to facetime by using emails, meaning no more carrier issues using Facetime.
