its actually true you can hack it using n900, check this link
http://www.ps3-hacks.com/2010/09/03/psfreedom-hack-your-ps3-using-a-nokia-n900/

but yeah I hate how these arabic forums operates, with their "Exclusive Discoveries" , all they do is steal threads from english forums and translate them claiming that they started the whole thing, and the funniest shit are the replies, "مشكوووور يا مبدع يا فنان " that's the discussion you expect from these forums, someone starts a thread and all the replies are the same... freaking hilarious..:P
all hacks blocked as of last night when the 3.42 firmware went live

not surprised, seeing as though the USB dongle has been banned anyway by sony.
YokimaSun writes "Sony may have dealt a major blow to the PSjailbreak sellers, but the release last week of PSGroove, an open source version of the hack, has now opened the floodgates of ports to mobile phones such as the Nokia N900 and Palm Pre. The final kick in the teeth is that a port of the exploit has been released by Waninkoko of Wii custom firmware fame for the Dingoo Handheld, which is a homebrew console that is very popular amongst emulation fans. It makes you smile that you can use one homebrew console to hack another to get homebrew on that console. Awesome."

Its unfortunate that most people would see this as an oppurtunity to pirate games while maybe like 5% of users are just eager to test out homebrew oppurtunities
PS3 3.42 software update reportedly patches jailbreak, hates fun
By Thomas Ricker posted Sep 7th 2010 1:48AM
Sony just released its 3.42 software update for PlayStation 3 owners. As a mandatory update, PS3 jockeys must accept it if they want to continue accessing the PlayStation Network or PlayStation Store. While Sony's American mouthpiece isn't saying much about the release, Sony Japan says that it fixes a "hardware security issue," and that's it. Sounds like a patch for PSJailbreak and its open-source variants to us.

I want to buy a PS3 , i just want to know, each time i will buy a new game i will have to update my PS3 or it doesn't matter ?
i want to buy a PS3 just for Gran Turismo 5 cz it's exclusive to PS3,& it's coming out in 2 November 2010, The Full Edition of GT5 not the GT5 Prologue.

Btw can someone tell me what should i ask the seller about it? I just know a lil stuff about PS3 like there is HDD sizes, but nothing more.

well no, when you put in a certain game that is playable online, it might ask you to download the newer version of the game, but if you're not an online gamer u don't have to...
As for the ps3 specs, the HDD is entirely up to you, if you're gonna be using it to store music and videos...
The ps3 comes with 1 dualshock controller....be sure to ask for your hdmi cable (around 39 bucks)
cheers
I would also add, that some games ( even when playing offline ) , will ask you for updates. ( IF the game is new and that you are still running on a pretty old version)

Sometimes the updates are available on the disc, and sometimes u need to connect to the internet in order to download the latest version that will allow you to play the game.

Most Importantly the ps3 can only be hacked if the firmware is 3.41 or lower. ( if its lower u download files from the internet and then update to 3.41 so you are able to jailbreak it)

If the version of the ps3 is above 3.41 (right now it's 3.50) there is no available way to jailbreak it (YET?).

Just for information: Right now the jailbroken ps3's are not able to run Copied games.
A jailbroken ps3 will allow you to backup a ps3 game u own (copy it to a hard disk) and play it from the hard disk.

That's it for now.
Interesting, today I went down to a DvD & electronics store(that's right under my house :D ) and asked about the price of a Ps3 slim, after that I asked the sales guy if there are Copied Ps3 games yet. I was a bit surprised that the usual "No" answer was different today! He said there is!! I said how, and what he said next reminded me of the "jailbreak PS3 hack" that came out

He told me that they now sell a "USB" (meaning flash-memory in Lebanese :P ) that allows you to copy any game to your hard drive so that you can play it normally later without the Disk. The cost of the USB you ask? $80!!!!! D:

He told me that you come here, buy the USB needed, buy a Ps3 game at a "discounted" price.. where you buy the game, copy it to the Hard Drive and return the Blu-ray disk back so that later on another customer can do the same thing(unless they buy the Blu-ray Originally)

I asked him what would happen if there were two players with the same copy of the game playing online, wouldn't they get banned? but he didn't quite get the idea(since he probably never played online lol)

I wanted to ask him if it would work even if Sony asked to update the Ps3 but I was in a hurry and didn't get the chance :/

Just finished testing a USB dongle i bought today.

This thing is real.

I backed up and played a ps3 game without the actual disc in the drive.
im selling the USB dongle for $55 each
what is the capacity of this USB dongle ?
So, when i copy the game from the Blu-ray to the USB, if I want to get another game, can i save the existing copy on an external HDD then play the other game,
copy/paste through computer, so i dont have only 1 game to play !
no dude, the USB is used as the jailbreak, you don't use it as a storage media. (nothing is saved on the USB)

You can use the hard disk of the ps3 or an external hard disc to Backup your games to.

So as long as you have storage space you can backup as many games as you want.
I would buy the USB thing, but the question is this....

What if I bought and copied/backup-ed a Game(for a cheaper price), returned the Disc then, played it online, THEN another person went to the store and bought(not copy-buy) the game which i copied and went online at the same time?

or maybe you can't play a backup online?

caz imagine if you went to a store(where they sell the USB) and bought a Ps3 game(the disc, not by copying), and went online just to find out that you paid $50 to get Banned :/
why buy it when you can make your own

you guys have an android phone or an n900 ?

... then here you go

ive tried the n900 technique on my old 40GB that cnt read discs ... the jailbreak works since i was able to install the backup manager and i saw the "install package files" thing and everything (basically options that come available after you jailbreak the PS3

think of it as service mode, what ever this does, it messes with the bootcode and puts it into debug mode; something of the sort.

anyway here it is http://gbatemp.net/t252522-definitive-guide-to-installing-psgroove?
If you want to play online have fun and pay for original games, then dont hack your PS3. We shouldnt try to kid ourselves because Sony will keep updating the firmware until it finds a permanent solution like altering the boot code which is pretty dangerous, so they keep hackers busy with simple system software updates like 3.42 .

Also i have found this.
