Can you check client.log file? Maybe anything there
nuclearcat
Another thing
[hussam@LARS Desktop]$ ps -A | grep globax

Btw you can remove ru_RU file in program folder and you can get english version this way :-)
yeah i know, i have seen the first post :p i uninstalled it yesterday then i re-installed it today and i didn't remove the file..anyway russian language is nice :)
hussam
It won't create a client.log unless I run it as root.
If I run it as root, ps -A shows two processes and client.log shows

and
[root@LARS Desktop]# telnet 127.0.0.1 3128
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
what does "Kaken thing happened with ./globax" mean?
nuclearcat
This means it is crashed. There is 2 processes, one is main, another is worker. If worker exited by some reason - main will try to restart it.
Seems i will test it on me also first.
wollyka
Finally it worked!
for some reason Firefox didn't save the proxy server. when i entered it again using Foxyproxy (127.0.0.1:3128) it worked..

i must say that it really improves my browsing speed with mobi.. it brings it to the level of my former 512k adsl connection.. :)

i have a question it is safe to use the program with secure https website or website that require login information?
nuclearcat
wollyka wrotei have a question it is safe to use the program with secure https website or website that require login information?
Yes, https is safe at any case, because it is encryption from you to endpoint (website).
Just make sure the certificate is one that belongs to website.

Happy to hear that :-)

ok what about forums (not encrypted) that require login information? can the information be viewed at the server side (of the program)? e.g since you can view our traffic ,is it possible for you to view the login details? i am just asking coz i always though that internet accelerators aren't safe for privacy? is it true? thx
nuclearcat
Technically possible, but on this server i have more than 200 users testing free beta service, and around 1.5k thousands using old, paid version.
Do you think i care about your access credentials, while i am sysadmin of ISP with tens of thousands users and Lebanese army and presidency administration for example is customers of ISP where i work... i think i should respect customers privacy.
Additionally i won't do much business if i will invade customers privacy.
But sure it is always to care about security, because there is always possibility someone can sniff info. Btw many forums implement md5 hashing before sending password, over javascript. For sure as i know facebook doing like that.
I didn't had any complaints till now about security issues since 2003, when i start this service.
wollyka
lol easy my friend.. i wasn't complaining about your service security.. i opted for beta testing it :)
i was asking about internet accelerators in general like opera turbo service etc.. and like you said any sysadmin with an ISP have access to that data
Anyhow i didn't know there was a paid 1.5 version.. it is the first time i hear about Globax in fact..
and thanks for being clear, direct and honest in your answer :)
nuclearcat
It is mostly used on russian one-way services, and on few middle east services that sell to corporate customers. So mostly it is well known for satellite users, for whom accelerators is a must.
Now globax adapted for any kind of connection, and more comfortable/multilanguage GUI interface made, so i am planning to increase sales areas.

Regarding security - never trust anyone :-)
If you enter private information, make sure you have complete ssl/tls connection to endpoint, and you must trust endpoint also.

downloaded, login credentials plz ?:)
