Its great that they expanded their reach to include the Mac community. However, I highly doubt it'll be efficient to download 10 GB or so to play a game. Consider also the updates, expansion packs and online play and you'll definitely exceed your monthly quota by a considerable margin and one will get FUP'ed easily and you're gonna pay extra fees for the extra gigs.

And the idea of buying pirated games and extracting the files and copying to your game directory, as you can do in Windows which the Steam client fixes by downloading only the necessary files won't work with a Mac....
I heard that a LOT of games available on Steam for Windows will not be available for the Mac version.
haha good news for the mac users. Enjoy crash free gaming :P (or games do crash on macs ?)

True. All of the big games haven't ported to the mac yet but giving the game developers an option to distribute games easily through the Steam client will make Macs a very viable option.

The PS3 has OpenGL as an API so it is pushing development on Macs now that Macs are Intel CPUs which makes it even easier.
Edit: For anyone who has steam. you can get and play Portal free for PC or Mac from now till the 24th of may.

If steam gets integrated into its fullest with most of the games. And games do get released on both windows and mac at the same time. Then I predict a strong competition between mac gaming and windows gaming in the next few years.

That if there will be better driver support for mac. My friend has just been trying portal on his mac and he told me the framerate was horrible even though he has a 9600M. All because of bad drivers for the mac probably.
I heard a lot of friends saying that Steam sucks on Mac, and they tried portal, with the same settings as on windows (it gets 90 fps in windows), they only got 25 fps (macbook pro).
As for games, they said that every Wednesday they will release a bunch of games.
