  • The Story of a Lebanese Game Developer

xterm wrotethough i wasn't aware of a contract that says you "can't get a job for 6 months", it's very harsh.
My current contract as a games developer with a major gambling company (games as in poker machines, and PC and Mobile platforms) specifies that if i leave the company, i'm not allowed to get a job in the same industry for a whole year! so 6 months is nothing really!

Get a job is one thing, within the same industry is another. We do have contracts in lebanon stating that you can't work within the same field for 1 or 2 years. Though that doesn't mean you can't get a job, nor does it not mean that you can't work as a developer, though if you're a game developer you can't work as a "game" developer for X amount of time.

Very True! i assumed you're talking about a job in same industry...it didn't make sense to me discussing the "can't get a job" in general, so i assumed the intention was about getting a job in the same domain (or same industry).

so yeah, now that makes the 2 of us that haven't heard of such contracts!
