Kareem wroteDownloading 2GBs in one shot is too much.....
* I am not aware of any ISP providing " at least " 6GBs of quota per month not for a 128 nor a 256kbps account
* Your account is not quota limited that means you can still download 300MBs/day that is almost 9GBs/month without getting your account downgraded.
* The monitoring system can in no way predict your bandwidth consumption in the remaining days, downloadin 2GBs in 1,2 or even 3 days means you are about to download 20-30 GBs in a month which is not reasonable at all
* The system protects the network bandwidth and users sharing the bandwidth,it cannot distinguish your activity from a malware/virus activity using the resources insanely, it has to slow you down.
* you are paying 50,000LL which makes me think you are not a direct VISP customer but using VISP through a reseller or subISP, making them controlling your account as they wish, and using a shared bandwidth.
* It seems you haven't tried any other ISP to see how shitty their FUP is, and not yet a DSL customer with a 3GBs/month limited quota for 50000LL @ 256kbps account downgraded to 64kbps till the end of the month if you abuse the bandwidth ( download more than 400MBs in 24hours)
* If you believe 50,000LL is too much, I challenge you fiding another ISP with a better FUP regulation
* There is nothing wrong with the policy or equation used to find out the bandwidth abusers.
* You can still get a direct VISP account and not through resellers, means you can get a better latency and service
*If you think your average consumption is 6GBs a month, or at least that is what you want, get a limited quota account not a monitored unlimited consumption.
Finally, cheers...
1- This is another story, All ISPs in lebanon think they are smart saying that Yes you have 6 GB quota from which 3 GB for download ( most users do downloads more than uploads) and 3 GB Uploads. There is no sense in this, I mean if should be split to 4GB download and 2GB upload.
2- Downloading 300MB a day is a waste of time, I have a life other than waiting a whole month downloading a game, or any other type of digital media. It is not feasible.
3- This is a bad implementation of FUP, seriously the equation is simple. Provide a specified quota for each account like 6 GB per month, when the user activate the FUP system. VISP is not doing anything that is better than the otther ISPs. They have just came up with this formula thinking that all users are alike.
4- That's why a specified quota is required here. And not like you are always under FUP rules.
5- Yes, I don't have any experience with any other ISPs, but what all ISPs are trying to implement isn't feasible.
What all want from VISP is to give me a solution ( feasible now or later) for moderated internet users ( 10 GB) per month. that's what I want to here.
