Business ruin everything that is good. Since you brought Microsoft here well Bill Gates who I think is the ideal example that can show where informal education can take you, said once : "If you can't make it good, at least make it look good" . He didn't said that when he was building he infamous company but he said it at a point where Microsoft is making a lot of money and turned to a business/tech companies .
Formal V.S. Informal Education
yeah things in worse in CS dude, since you are a CS major like me well pple who are really passionate about it are countable and the others who just want to get that 50 to pass, not more will end up not finding a job in their field. they make CS cause it is the "mouda"AymanFarhat wrotelol do such people EXIST? An engineer working as an accountant ? OMGim talking about engineers working jobs suited for accounting and finance majors ! :)

It is simple:
if you are a NORMAL person:
you need formal for basics + informal for perfection
if you are genius:
you need informal only for perfection
but you also need formal to be a real innovator or inventor
For me i know a bit of every thing and that what i got from my informal education and i will know a lot of things related to bioengineering and that what i will get from formal education but to be innovative you need to know what other people in your major don't know (informal education)
1 graduating with more than ten inventions
2 seek a women of thinking in the people before herself(like me)
3 learning another majors till i become 60
4 gaining money and using most of it to help people
5 making my own center for poor countries fixation + my own WWW (much better and organized one)
6 destroying the cities and building new ones based on scientific studies
7 providing plenty of food to africa by helping Americans to fight obesity through ABBABBJ AFDP(African Food Donating Program)
There are a lot more but most are governments related and it may be considered politics so i wont mention
hehehe
