at my home i have always advertised for Sony products even with my friends but we are gonna get an LCD BRAVIA TV and we went to Jeneh you all or most of them like Khoury home and Homeline WE5 looks great but my only concern is for the RF signal that we have or most Lebanese have for broadcasting so Intelligent Picture by Sony is good for enhancing the signal + BBE3 is good too even though i am gonna buy a ps3 soon the TV actually doesn't matter only about FHD actually but nothing else. Also Samsung's LED is great especially that it is available with different sizes (I am looking at you Sony).so i can say after doing a little research for a month and reading loots of stuff the three brands which appealed me were SONY SAMSUNG and LG.
Give me your opinion and your experience with them if you have....

there are currently two flat screen technologies, one with the light on the sides of the screen that reflect across the screen just as on your laptops monitor and the direct light where each pixel has its own light emitor right behind it. depending on the usage, one has better refresh rate 200mhz and the other has a better picture quality. so depending on whether you are playing or watching movies each has its distinct model within the sony range.
latelly ive heard lots of bragging that the samsung beats the sony products, especially the 9series which availability is limited!
when it comes to price/quality/return of investments, the samsung has been the favored model in the local markets.
with sony, you need to be carefull as for what exact model you are looking at because there are big differences with the engine chips capability and image quality is noticeable.
i have not yet decided which way to go, i just might skip on the flat screens and get a video projector. this would be my summer project.

i was thinking about W series from sony while 6 or 7 series from samsung which maybe the same band different names and tech names like Trumotion on Samsung is Motionplus on Sony. What is most gonna matter to me as a gamer is the 4 HDMI's and contrast ratio's of about 100,000.

SONY BRAVIA all the way...
at home in my room i have sony bravia 32" hd ready
my dad got a 50" panasonic plasma.
for watching tv, my dads screen was better, but since you mentioned PS3 and gaming, the sony bravia will make miracles with the ps3, i tried mine on my screen and my dad's, even though he has more refresh rate then mine, but mine was obviously better for ps3 and games.

I have a 50" Panasonic plasma that gives a decent 720p; it's hooked to a 5.1 Sony sound system. It's a cool setup for the living room :)

Plasma...hmm well they are known to have not much of resolutions supported but better at colors and contrast.

There is an offer on Samsung LED TV 6000 series(forgot to check which model). Checked Cnet's review and as usual depressing, but there tests are too scientific and will take a keen videophile to detect the defects. Basically for the ps3 they are great but you know here we have SD resolution for local channels. Extra feature that decreases the noise and other affects on the image due to the upscaling any help in this area ?
