Aj_BlaZ wrotethe best way to protect your router is using your MAC address as connecting to your router nor wep nor wap 2 ..
if you used aluminium and thats blocking the connection signals its pointless...
edit: ah failure :D yeah you can do that
using MAC filtering without wep/wap is useless, even my sister can spoof her mac address...
mac filtering is an extra security feature (and one of the easiest to break) added to the other security features to make it 1 step harder for the hacker, but it's not a solution on its own.
as for the best way to protect/destroy a network, it all depends on the network itself. it's litteraly a per case thing.
plus, in network security, there's a very important rule to follow, you should not spend on security more than the value of the assets you're trying to secure. sounds logical...
if i tell you that the best way to secure a network is to put it in a physically secured datacenter, with access control, security cameras, alarms, ... then for network security have 2 layers of firewalls, 2 layers of ips, all of them from different brands, and then start securing the protocols and all and blablabla, yes you can do it for your home network, but that would be absurd, while it's the BASIC thing to do for a bank for example.
as for the best way to destroy a network, i guess it's with a chainsaw, that's the only permanent way to destroy it. all other ways are just temporary and can relatively easily be fixed and they don't bring as much joy and excitement as a chainsaw.
