The forum logo is ridiculously stereotypical, and worse yet, we're attacking ourselves with monkey like features. Honestly, I'd be ashamed if someone knew I...

plus, some here ARE satisfied... with the current one.

applies on both :P the unsatisfied with the current logo , and the unsatisfied with the new proposals :P and yeah off course i cant blame anyone for not liking the new proposals sorry guys but i think they are all rubbish including my proposals :) if only we had a graphics designer over here , i made a couple and im ashamed to have them as a logo especially the WAZWAZA :D

All votes out, I guess this ends the thread with all of us loving the existing logo.

worst worst worst case scenario, i think it should be kept as is and just remove the head, put a normal "G" and just keep it as text (without the arabic caligraphy, it makes it too ungeek :P).
geeks often use notepad or text editors, so text only without formating or pics is common
tags, even though usually used by coders, are often used by geeks in general (not just coders) on forums for things like <edit></edit>, <sarcasm></sarcasm>, ...
so <lebgeeks> makes sense.

samer, can you please send the logo without the head, with just a normal "G" so that we can compare?

These are mostly ideas, not really logos.
BTW, I laughed myself to death yesterday when I read the rest of the thread.

On a more serious note, I find arithma's proposal (the 5 tuxes) to be the best, and maybe the only one that looks better then the current logo, but the problem being that it lacks originality, i mean it is a photo grabbed from the net, can we use it?
As for using tuxes, since they're multiple tuxes i think its not so bad because pinguins also symbolize geeks in a way, and the different uniforms symbolize the diversity here.

the tux is so like yesterday.. btw, lets not forget that the tux originates from linuxs mascot which this forum doesnt orient on alone. in addition the official linux mascot is no longer the penguin!!

I still vote for the current logo. it has the right touch.

Just as a matter of note: The tuxes were all each on their own. I cut and paste them together. So you won't find the exact same picture somewhere else. The individual tuxes though, I can't guarantee their originality.. I got it from a stupid old CD that I got
Anyway, my piece was just an idea, to show the power of many, and indeed diversity. I happen to like those ideas..
As for the other penguin (with the american flag, the french bere and the chest hair, I drew it by myself, over a regular tux)
If in case I have to settle for something, I'd settle for a "LebGeeks" set in "Courier New" font.

Well there has been no serious alternatives suggested, so for now, I vote we stay with the current logo. However, should someone have a new "serious" one to suggest, it would be great to take a look at it.

Tuz was the mascot of the 2009 linux.conf.au conference. It has been chosen by Linus Torvalds as the logo for version 2.6.29 of the Linux kernel [18] to support the effort to save the Tasmanian devil species from extinction[19] due to the Devil facial tumour disease.

The image was designed by Andrew McGown and modified by Josh Bush,[20] and released under Creative Commons license CC-BY-SA.

the official mascot still is tux. tuz, the new "mascot" is just temporary for the current kernel release, just for awareness purposes. tux will be back in the next release.

I can't stand apes in general and chimps in particular. But I don't mind the logo. Plus I don't even see the logo because I use one of the default visual styles to display the forum.
