  • [PS3] CoD MW2 :: Online-gaming problem

Great man.
Ok, give us your PSN id and see ya online.
that is weird, every other post in the world says you should have UPnP turned on. I had most settings similar to what you described, so i tried turning UPnP off but the results didn't change for me. however, i am using a wireless router which could introduce more filtering and blockage.
hey there,

do not change anything in ur settings, i had the same problem and half of the world is having it. i switched to ogero and it fixed itself + i have an excellent way that dropped my lag to 170ms
i do have ogero. Anyways, im moving into a new apartment next month so im going to sleep on this for now and look into it further then. I'll ping you if i need more assistance. thanks
Can someone list all the ports that needs to be opened on the ps3 so it will work online smoothly?
And is there any ports that are needed by MW2 ?
I browsed the internet and every website has different suggestions.

This is the official list of ports that are needed to be open for a smooth online play:

As for MW2 specific ports, in general, opening the ports mentioned in the link will be sufficient.
its not about ports nor nothing, infinity wards are still having problems with the mw2 servers. so they arent letting everyone in. but as far as i know nothing will work for mw2 lebanon except for dsl ogero 512. the lag is 150-210 ms 150 is acceptable, and another advice use a wire with u ps3, surprisingly i changed my wire to a thicker one and the lag got reduced. i used FTP network wire and not utp.

please share this with everyone and add any ideas here to share for online gaming improvements.

Have the same problem, but I'm on a Thomson TG585v7 router (Terranet ADSL, 512K)

Any help ?

P.S : Tried to set up DMZ, but the Thomson settings page can't list my PS3 as a device able to do it.

1- If you have any firewalls in the Router, turn them off.
2- When you want to DMZ, you just have to enter an ip address in the field.
3- Assign your ps3 with the same ip address you used to DMZ in the router.

Flyingwizard wrote a great How to, check it out and apply it to your router. ( you can always save your settings before tampering with the router, in case u messed up something, you can always restore)

As a note: turn off everything that might be using the connection, laptops, iphones, anything....
And connect the ps3 to the router with a cable and not wireless...

In the end good luck.

dont forget to post your PSN id http://www.lebgeeks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5639

Thanks mate for the fast reply :)
Great community here (just knew about it :O )
Will try everything as soon as I get home, but I think I've already tried everything...Nchalla kheir.
Can anyone please confirm weather MW2 will work on Ogero's 256, like is it playable?

And before anyone asks, im asking specifically for 256 since that's the fastest speed my line can take.

I mean the game needs around 20-30 KB/s down and 20kb/s Up

I mean the bandwidth is there with the 256, its just a matter of CONSISTENT ping rates, hence the reason why Ogero is probably the best to go with right now.
256, hmm i cant help u man bas 512 it works perfect
thanks... anyone else ? i believe my assumption on the ping rates is correct though. but i just need a confirmation. VISP isn't really cutting it anymore for me.

256 is a bit slow for online play. You need at least a 512 connection to be able to play online. The download and upload rates of a 256 connection aren't enough for a smooth online play.
Bloody hell it didn't work.
First, my router CAN'T set up DMZ on the PS3, I've searched and searched and every unlucky lad with this router had the same problem.
Then, I noticed on my PS3 (before messing with the router) : NAT : Type 3.
Once again, I did some research, and yes, it's the bloody damn router Terranet gave me.

FIFA works just fine (not the smoothest of online plays, but it's barely playable), and I've been playing CODMW1 online on PC for ages, so it's basically a CODMW2 (PS3) issue.

My router just won't allow me to kick some arse online.

Hmmm thought so. Seriously want kind of country in 2010 is still unable to get at least "512" cnxs to homes. Like WTF.

Ok dude I've done some research and you are right, there is no DMZ support on that thompson router.
But there is something called Transparent Public IP Address Pass-Through and basically its the same as DMZ.
Here's the link http://www.speedtouch.net.nz/500PublicIPpassthrough_R4.3.htm
The user interface is from another router but i read somewhere that its the same for the 585 speedtouch model.

One more thing is that i feel you already saw that. ( just for the fact that you said that the ps3 is not listed in the devices!!!) but try turning on the ps3 and sign in to your psn and afterwards login to your router.
